Transport and Compliance Lead
Summary
Are you a detail-oriented leader with a passion for compliance and operational excellence? We’re looking for a proactive professional to ensure our business meets all regulatory obligations while delivering a safe, reliable, and customer-focused service.
As part of the operations team, you'll play a key role in identifying and mitigating risks to service delivery, ensuring punctual and efficient transport operations. You will lead and manage our on-site Supervisory Team and coordinate transport managers' activities across the business.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- The maintenance of operational compliance records, tachographs and associated activities across the business in line with regulatory guidelines.
- Leading and managing the supervisory team, in supervising all operational activities within SPS locations and SZC locations.
- Supporting the Operations Manager through continuous monitoring of drivers hours both domestic and EU to ensure vehicle compliance is maintained to industry leading standards.
- Auditing the tachograph system for accurate and up to date records.
- Evaluating the external and internal risks and challenges faced by the organisation in relation to its operator’s license and taking timely action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
- Acting as a Transport Manager for the company, responsible for the operator licence Compliance undertakings.
- Coordinating and managing transport managers activities throughout the business.
- Maintaining and updating information to the Transport Managers and Leadership team with regards to regulatory and legislative changes to the operator’s license
- Providing reassurance to the leadership team through leading on and conducting auditable processes and providing recommendations for improvement or risk mitigation regarding the undertakings on the operator's license
- Working closely with the Operations Manager on rotas and to ensure that there is adequate staff coverage at all times
- Identifying and resolving daily operational issues, including scheduling and allocation, vehicle issues and driver queries
- Arranging Tours as requested, including driver allocation, risk assessments and EU/Tachograph training
- Planning and implementing new routes and service changes including risk assessments, vehicle tests and driver familiarisation.
- Participating in all necessary processes to provide the business with enough confidence to ensure it can achieve its necessary increase in operating discs.
- Deputising for Operations Manager on operational matters as required
Essential criteria:
- 3+ years team management experience.
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Analytical with good attention to detail and able to demonstrate high levels of accuracy.
- A flexible approach to working hours as we are a 24/7 business
- Good understanding of driver regulations, hours, compliance and CPC.
- Knowledge of transport legislation & license
- Passenger Transport Manager qualification
- Driving Licence
Desirable:
- Coaching/mentoring
- PCV licence
- First Aid trained
