Utilities Project Manager (Sizewell C)

Location: Sizewell C,(5 days a week onsite ) Leiston, the office will move next year to Ipswich, Suffolk.

Contract: Permanent, full-time.
Salary: £60,000 - £67,500 per annum

About the Project


Sizewell C (SZC) is at the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. This ground-breaking nuclear power plant project in Suffolk will play a vital role in delivering a sustainable future. Backed by EDF and the UK Government, Sizewell C is a once-in-a-generation project with significant opportunities to innovate, grow, and deliver excellence.


The Role


The Utilities Project Manager will report directly to the Utilities Senior Manager will be responsible for the direction and management of activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of a Utilities contract or work package assigned to them in accordance with the programme schedule and delivery budget.


You'll ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project. Its delivery will be reliant not only on innovative engineering and construction but also on the strongest qualities amongst Project Managers. The role is to provide management to ensure the effective delivery of your Utilities scope as part of the overarching Civils Programme of SZC, whilst recognising and managing the impacts of the programme on the wider Project. The Utilities Project Manager role is to develop the Implementation plan for delivering the Utilities scope to cost, schedule and quality within the agreed constraints. The scope consists of new temporary and permanent connections, diversionary and protective measures and monitoring, repair, and maintenance of utilities (Telecommunications, Potable Water, Foul Water, Natural Gas, Power, including Sub-stations) located across several SZC project sites. It includes management of feasibility, design, procurement, and construction of new and existing Utility assets, together with disconnections, making safe and abandonment of decommissioned Utilities.


You’ll be the primary point of contact responsible for:

 

  • Leading and managing all utilities project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Defining the work and delivering within the scope of work by using necessary measures under the New Roads and Streetworks Act or other enabling agreements.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive project objectives and milestones.
  • Implementing best practices in project management to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Overseeing contractor and subcontractor activities, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Managing internal and external stakeholders, contractors using effective communication and build relationships with delivery partners, site teams or operations and workforce.
  • Supporting the Utilities Manager in delivering the Sizewell C utility strategy with continuous involvement in developing strategies to improve the safety and delivery of the project.
  • Additionally, you’ll demonstrate an industry knowledge and experience of working within utility services (Telecommunications, Potable Water, Foul Water, Natural Gas, Power including Sub-stations).
  • Ideally, you will come from the Utilities, Civil Engineering, or Construction sector.

 
What You’ll Bring:


Essential knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Industry knowledge and experience of working within utility services and project management operations.
  • Working knowledge of service avoidance and Safe digging practice, in accordance with HSG 47.
  • Demonstrable understanding of utilities Builder Work in Connection (BWIC) and CDM Regulations.
  • Proven track record of delivery within a similar environment.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills and experience of positive stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent IT skills ( Microsoft Office Programs – Word/Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to learn from both successes and failures.
  • Intellectual capacity to deal with complex issues and work creating a one team ethos.
  • The ability to re-prioritise tasks in fast fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to complete successfully all security clearances and CTC checks.
