The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.

Sizewell C Limited (Sizewell C) is nuclear site licensed company whose business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk.  Sizewell C was formerly under the majority ownership of the EDF Group but is currently majority owned by HM Government and operates as an independent company. EDF remains a key shareholder in Sizewell C and the business therefore maintains close links to EDF as a part of its ‘nuclear family’.
As a Sizewell C employee, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email, or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.

We are looking for a Utilities Demand Manager for the Sizewell C project to manage the electrical, water, and IT & Telecommunications service needs. This role focuses on ensuring capacity, governance, and stakeholder support. It's an exciting time to join the project.

As Utilities Demand Manager, you'll oversee utility management, developing strategies and agreements to meet project demands. You'll also collaborate with internal stakeholders to execute plans that address utility requirements.

Your responsibilities will include strategic oversight of technical processes, resolving issues, ensuring safety, and managing environmental and utility design practices. You'll play a key role in risk management, change control, and planning, contributing to the project's success.

The Role

  • You’ll oversee pre-construction and construction deliverables, ensuring key milestones are achieved. You’ll promote a strong Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) culture by addressing SHE-related issues and provide input to Environmental Management Plans and permits leading their implementation once approved.

You’ll also be coordinating with internal teams like Construction, Environmental, and Site Operations to ensure seamless progress.
  • You will manage project changes proactively, identifying potential risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them. Ensuring client satisfaction will be a top priority, delivering utilities on time, within budget, and to the high quality standards. You’ll also take the lead in coordinating with Utilities Construction teams to ensure compliance with best practices and DCO (Development Consent Order) guidelines.

The Skills

  • Proven experience managing utilities for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Communication skills with a proven ability to engage stakeholders and make sound decisions.
  • Skilled in using project management tools to drive successful outcomes.
  • Ability problem-solve, be adaptable and re-prioritize tasks on the go.
  • Experience delivering results in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Industry expertise in utilities services, including water, telecommunications, power, and more.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
