Location: London
Contract: Permanent

Package:

Salary is highly competitive, with flexibility to secure an outstanding candidate with the right experience and market standing.

This is a rare opportunity where the scope, influence and long-term impact of the role are matched by a package designed to attract top-tier Treasury leadership from across the infrastructure, energy and wider capital-intensive sectors.

Closing date – 15th May 2026

Lead the financing of one of Europe’s most significant infrastructure projects

This is a rare opportunity to take on a defining Treasury leadership role at Sizewell C -  a nationally critical programme that will reshape how major infrastructure is financed and delivered in the UK.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the Treasury function at a pivotal moment.

Following Final Investment Decision and financial close in 2025, the focus now shifts from structuring to execution: operationalising a complex, multi-decade financing model, embedding rigorous governance, and enabling financial discipline at unprecedented scale.

With a projected debt portfolio exceeding £30bn and a diverse funding structure spanning government, export credit agencies and international lenders, this role offers genuine breadth, influence and long-term impact.

The opportunity

You will take ownership of a sophisticated financing platform designed to transform the delivery of nuclear power. This includes:

• A fully funded construction programme through to the mid–late 2030s
• A blended funding model combining government support, private equity and large-scale debt facilities
• An ambition to position Sizewell C as one of the UK’s most significant and respected long-term debt issuers

You will play a central role in maintaining strong investment-grade credit ratings (currently BBB+ equivalent), managing relationships with key funding partners including the National Wealth Fund, export credit agencies and a syndicate of international banks, and shaping the long-term refinancing strategy.

What you’ll lead

This is a broad, enterprise-level leadership role spanning strategy, execution and governance.

Strategic leadership & financing

• Act as the senior authority on all financing arrangements, ensuring full compliance with complex funding agreements
• Shape long-term debt strategy, including refinancing planning across the asset lifecycle
• Position the organisation as a high-quality, credible borrower in global debt markets

Treasury transformation & capability

• Build and mature a best-in-class Treasury function, embedding robust governance, processes and controls
• Transition from external advisory reliance to a fully in-house, sustainable operating model
• Develop a resilient, high-performing team with strong technical depth and leadership capability

Execution & governance

• Oversee all debt and equity drawdowns, ensuring precision, compliance and timeliness
• Lead all lender and bank reporting, ensuring transparency and credibility with stakeholders
• Own FX hedging strategy and supply chain credit risk management

Stakeholder leadership

• Build and maintain senior relationships across government, regulators, shareholders and financial institutions
• Act as a trusted partner to Boards and Committees, providing insight and assurance on financial risk and performance
• Influence across the organisation to embed financial discipline aligned to the RAB regulatory framework

Financial insight & performance

• Lead the financial modelling interface with the wider business, ensuring outputs drive decision-making and meet financing requirements
• Provide clear interpretation of financial impacts across the model, licence and funding structure
• Oversee key programmes including the Funded Decommissioning Programme and FundCo governance

The environment

Sizewell C is delivering a next-generation nuclear power station in Suffolk, replicating the design of Hinkley Point C while driving meaningful improvements in cost and delivery.

Operating under the UK’s Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model and regulated by Ofgem, the project sits at the intersection of government, private capital and national infrastructure delivery.

The organisation is evolving rapidly into a standalone entity, offering a unique opportunity to shape systems, governance and culture from the ground up.

What we’re looking for

You will be an established Treasury leader with the credibility to operate at the highest levels of government, finance and industry.

Experience & expertise

• Proven experience as a Treasury Director (or equivalent) within a large, complex organisation
• Strong track record in structured finance, debt markets and stakeholder engagement
• Deep understanding of financing, compliance and governance in highly regulated environments

Leadership & impact

• A leader of leaders, able to build high-performing teams and create a culture of accountability and excellence
• Highly credible with financial institutions, investors and government stakeholders
• Strong commercial judgement, negotiation capability and ability to manage complexity

Personal capability

• Strategic thinker who can translate complexity into clear direction
• Politically astute, with the ability to operate effectively in a government-linked environment
• Resilient, pragmatic and solutions-focused, with high levels of integrity

Qualifications

• Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA and/or MCT preferred)

Why this role

Opportunities at this level - with this scale, visibility and long-term impact — are exceptionally rare.

You will:

• Shape the financial future of a £30bn+ infrastructure programme
• Operate at the centre of UK energy, government and capital markets
• Build and lead a Treasury function that will define best practice for future projects
• Play a critical role in delivering one of the UK’s most important net zero initiatives

For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK. As a project, we do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
