Temporary Works Lead  ( Permanent role ) to Shape the Future of Sizewell C! 


Location: Sizewell C site,  ( 5 days a week onsite), Leiston Suffolk. 

Contract: Permanent, full-time.
Salary £90,000- £99,500 per annum

About the Project


Sizewell C (SZC) is at the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. This ground-breaking nuclear power plant project in Suffolk will play a vital role in delivering a sustainable future. Backed by EDF and the UK Government, Sizewell C is a once-in-a-generation project with significant opportunities to innovate, grow, and deliver excellence.


The Role


As the Temporary Works Lead, you’ll establish and maintain the procedures and standards that ensure the safe and effective delivery of all temporary works across the Sizewell C project. You'll lead from the front, building a capable team of temporary works professionals, overseeing their performance, and ensuring all stakeholders meet the highest standards of compliance and safety.


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the overarching Temporary Works (TW) procedure for SZC in line with BS5975:2019 and CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Build and lead a skilled team of Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs) and Supervisors (TWSs).
  • Create and manage a robust TW Register and adopt innovative technology solutions to enhance TW management.
  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and development of TW designers and coordinators.
  • Collaborate with procurement to evaluate supplier competence and deliver a sourcing strategy for TW design.
  • Ensure health and safety risks are eliminated or minimized through effective design and implementation practices.
  • Drive the standardization of TW designs to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Establish performance monitoring and assurance regimes for all contractors and subcontractors involved in TW.


What You’ll Bring


Essential Skills & Experience:

 

  • Extensive Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) experience.
  • Leadership: Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and departments.
  • Expertise: Deep understanding of the temporary works process (BS5975:2019), CDM Regulations 2015, and risk reduction principles 
  • Technical Knowledge Vast years of experience in the construction industry, including Temporary Works design and implementation. 
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills and established relationships with the TW design supply chain.
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and Chartered Engineer status or equivalent. 
  • Temporary Works Co-ordinator training completed


Desirable Skills:

 

  • Experience in nuclear new build or the wider nuclear industry.
  • Familiarity with ONR Licence Conditions.
  • Temporary works experience on major projects, including tunnelling.
