Temporary Works Engineer (Sizewell C)

Join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) on the Sizewell C Project

Are you ready to make a real impact on a project that will power millions of homes and support the UK's energy future? I'm looking for a Temporary Works Engineer to join our team at the Sizewell C site as part of the Civil Works Programme (CWA). This is a truly unique opportunity to contribute to the construction of a 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station that will generate low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and play a vital role in the nation's energy landscape for at least 60 years.

As part of the CWA, you'll work directly with a dedicated team focused on designing, coordinating, and managing temporary works that ensure a safe, efficient, and innovative construction process. Reporting to the Temporary Works Manager, you'll collaborate with a range of stakeholders, from project managers to client teams, to ensure the delivery of temporary works in line with project specifications.

What you'll do:

  • Support the execution of the Temporary Works Coordinator role, ensuring designs and constructions meet safety and project standards.
  • Liaise with a wide range of teams to confirm that temporary works do not affect nuclear safety or public impact.
  • Regularly update and review a Temporary Works Register, ensuring designs and construction timelines align with overall project goals.
  • Manage the temporary works design change process and ensure that construction only happens from finalized, 'for construction' drawings.
  • Carry out inspections and coordinate with site teams to ensure that temporary works are constructed and maintained safely.

What we're looking for:

  • A professional who can communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse teams.
  • Ideally, you'll have relevant qualifications (e.g. HNC, Degree) and proven experience in temporary works design and coordination, particularly within large-scale, complex projects like Sizewell C.
  • A strong understanding of Temporary Works Procedures (BS5975) and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders to ensure project success.

By joining us, you'll play a key part in the delivery of one of the most significant energy projects in the UK, supporting the construction of Sizewell C from start to finish. This project is pivotal for achieving the nation's energy and environmental goals.

If you're ready to help build the future of energy, apply now and be part of this ground-breaking project. Click the link to apply today!

For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK. As a project, we do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
