Opportunity for a Senior Works Manager (Sizewell C) working with Blackwell Earth Moving on the Sizewell C Project,


Main Duties : 

 

  • The Senior Works Manager shall direct and lead the Foremen, Supervisors and Operatives in a manner which supports the project delivery team. He/She shall be a senior member of the project team and will contribute to the safe, effective & efficient management of sub-contractors and BEL staff throughout the delivery of the site operations.
  • The site operations relate primarily to the bulk earthworks but will also include the supporting logistics, planning of hauls, material storage locations and any other instructed scope which may be accepted by the project team.
  • The Senior Works manager shall keep detailed site diaries and ensure that allocation sheets are being raised and submitted to the standard required. He/She shall monitor and record labour/resources and report directly to the Project Director jointly ensuring that resources are maintained at the optimum levels. 
  • The Senior Works Manager will be able to interpret and review construction issue drawings, develop method statements to ensure that the works are safely and productively constructed including adherence to relevant procedures and specifications.
  • The overarching function of the role is to have a single 'one stop' point of local authority for the day-to-day control of the people, equipment and materials being used in large sections of the works.
  • The Senior Works manager will coordinate with the Senior Management and Engineering team to set the plans for the work and then execute them in the safest and most efficient manner possible.


Qualifications/Experience : 

 

  • SMSTS qualification and minimum of CSCS Gold Card.
  • 10 years minimum in the industry, 5 in a supervisory role working in highway construction or large scale civil engineering.
  • Demonstrable first-class approach to health, safety and environmental management.
  • Experience of managing multiple foremen, sub-contractor groundworks gangs, with the ability to co-ordinate activities and ensure maximum production / minimum downtime from each item of plant.
  • A good working knowledge of correct material usage applicable to the task, machine / application matching, production outputs, and Series 600 Specification for Highway Works. 
  • Knowledge of how to untilise the use of GPS machine guidance effectively.
  • Capable of feeding into, reading and working to a 3-week programme.
  • A sound understanding of quality requirements, and the ability to follow an ITP and adhere to Hold Points.
  • Able to work professionally with Clients representatives of a similar level or one step higher on a daily basis, and where required, engage with visiting Client representatives of all levels.
  • Robustly defend the companies interests where required.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership, and be visible and approachable by employees, other staff, and Clients. Ensure everyone on site is treated fairly and with respect.
