Senior Quantity Surveyor (Sizewell C)

Main Responsibilities and Duties: 


• Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with standard McLaren procedures and work instructions
• Contribute to project scope and design from a commercial aspect, identifying and maximising opportunities while 
minimising risks
• Project detailed advice to Project Lead on contract conditions and escalating any issues that require expert legal advice, manage resolution of any contractual issues and/or disputes
• Influence project procurement strategy and devise suitable procurement routes for supply chain
• Ensure implementation of site-based cost control processes for prelims, subcontract and at client level including variation management and main contract obligations
• Provide comprehensive and reliable CVRS, external and internal cash flow forecasts for project, monitoring results and interpreting reason for deviation
• Implement commercial management procedures in line with McLaren’s standard procedures for day-to-day 
applications for payment, procurement, cost reports, audit trails, site activity records etc
• Lead comprehensive and detailed risk and opportunity reviews for project and propose, implement, manage and 
monitor risk management strategies
• Ensure the accurate recording and submission of claims in respect of delay and loss expense
• Produce and issue payment notices
• Promote McLaren to clients, subcontractors and consultants
• Involved in pre-construction strategy, contribute to review and agreement of cost plans
• Manage, motivate and develop team
• Undertake all duties in line with McLaren Management Process (quality control, record keeping, SHE) 
• Undertake all duties in line with Level 2 McLaren Values Framework
• Produce, manage and strategies necessary information to support/defend a claim


Skills and Abilities: 


• Ability to take sole responsibility for commercial success of a project/s
• Proven ability to proactively identify commercial opportunity and risk
• Proven ability to effectively operate change management procedure and propose solutions
• Proven ability of regularly drafting contractual and commercially sensitive correspondence
• Client facing
• People management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
• Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Sound working knowledge of construction and contract law and various forms of Conditions of Contract
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement processes
• Working knowledge of basic plant, equipment and materials
• Knowledge and understanding of sub-contracting principles, together with the ability to draft and administer subcontracts
• Ability to implement procedures to quantify and cost construction works, including the use of appropriate 
standard methods of measurement
• Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external customers
• Experience in maximising potential of team


Desirable:


• Able to easily detect and interpret trends in financial information
• Detailed understanding of a wide range of design solutions, complex construction methods and 
packages based on a wide range of project experience
• Advanced levels of ownership and drive


Qualifications / Certificates: 


• ONC/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying
• Level 6 Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying
• BSc Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent
