I am excited to announce that we are looking for a dedicated Senior Planning Manager (Main Civils) to join our dynamic team at the Civil Works Alliance (CWA). This role offers an incredible opportunity to be a part of the monumental Sizewell C Project, a 3.2-gigawatt power station set to generate low-carbon electricity for 6 million homes, supporting the UK's energy future with reliable, clean electricity for at least the next 60 years.


About the Sizewell C Project As part of our commitment to a low-carbon energy future, EDF Energy is spearheading the development of Sizewell C (SZC), a critical infrastructure project with a profound impact on the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. The Civil Works Alliance, comprising Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty, will manage various aspects of the civil works, including enabling & earthworks, main civil works, and marine & tunnelling.


Your Role As the Senior Planning Manager, you will work closely with our Planning Lead and wider CWA teams. Your primary responsibility will be to lead, develop, manage, coordinate, and monitor the project program and controls for all building structures within the Conventional Island of the proposed power plant. With a focus on quality, efficiency, and strategic planning, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of this landmark project.


Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Develop and maintain contract/project programs in line with project requirements.
  • Collaborate to establish a logical sequence and construction strategy.
  • Analyze performance, provide actionable insights, and recommend improvements.
  • Lead, support, train, and contribute to the career development of team members.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, partners, and supply chain for time-related information.
  • Represent the project/business with stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic and short-term programs and report on progress and issues.
  • Define resource requirements and coordinate with internal customers.
  • Deliver planning and coordination processes.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders, offering commercial advice and managing programme issues.
  • Record and report on the efficiency of labour and resources.


What We're Looking For Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 planning software.
  • Strong IT skills and advanced project/programme controls.


Qualifications & Experience Essential

 

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related sector.
  • Senior-level planning experience.
  • Experience with construction programs in a civil engineering environment, preferably on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of reinforced concrete works planning.


Desirable

 

  • CIOB/MICE Membership.
  • Experience with 4D/Synchro Modelling.
  • Experience in managing civil works programs.
  • Self-starter with strong teamwork abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a team and work independently.
  • High standards for quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize urgent tasks and think laterally to identify trends/issues.
