About The Role


Materials Testing & Inspection

· Conduct on-site and laboratory testing of concrete, grout, soils, aggregates, and CFA/piling materials.

· Perform slump tests, cube preparation, density, air content, grading analysis, and compression strength testing.

· Carry out sampling and testing of plastic materials used in civils and drainage works.

· Verify concrete production and delivery against project requirements (batch tickets, temperatures, timings).

· Support quality control during CFA piling, including fluid testing, spoil analysis, and concrete continuity checks.


Compliance & Quality Assurance

· Ensure all tests comply with relevant BS/EN standards (e.g., BS EN 206, BS 8500, BS 1377, BS EN ISO standards).

· Maintain accurate records in line with Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA) requirements for Sizewell C.

· Identify non-conformances, report quality issues, and support corrective actions.

· Assist in calibration, maintenance, and verification of laboratory equipment.


Site Support

· Provide real-time technical support to site teams on concrete operations, curing, and material handling.

· Monitor environmental conditions affecting concreting activities (temperature, humidity, ground conditions).

· Support the Quality Manager in reviewing method statements, ITPs, and material approvals.


Data, Reporting & Documentation

· Complete daily test reports, materials logs, and electronic data submissions.

· Upload test results to project quality platforms (e.g., BIM 360, Fieldview, Dalux).

· Prepare documentation for audits, inspections, and handover packs.


Safety & Compliance

· Promote a strong site safety culture and comply with Sizewell C project standards.

· Ensure safe handling of materials, samples, and laboratory chemicals.

· Participate in toolbox talks, site inductions, and briefings.


Qualifications


· CSCS card or ability to obtain one.

· NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Construction Materials Testing, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.

· Training in concrete or geotechnical materials testing.

· Additional certifications (e.g., UKAS training, PASMA, Confined Space) beneficial


Experience 


· Experience in concrete and civil engineering materials testing within major infrastructure or heavy civils projects.

· Understanding of laboratory and field-testing procedures.
