Drive Strategic Investor Engagement at one of the UK’s Most Ambitious Infrastructure Projects

Sizewell C (SZC) is a nationally significant infrastructure project at the heart of the UK’s clean energy future. Backed by HM Government and EDF, we are building a new nuclear power station to support the country’s net-zero transition. As we approach financial close and enter the next critical phase of delivery, we are seeking an accomplished and strategically minded Senior Manager of Investor Relations to lead and shape our engagement with a complex, high-profile investor base.

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact, senior management role where you will be accountable for building and implementing a best-in-class investor relations function.

You will work closely with the Director of Finance & IR, the CFO, the SZC Executive team, and the Board to deliver accurate, transparent, and strategic communications with institutional investors, Government shareholders, and a broad spectrum of external stakeholders.

Operating at the heart of a multibillion-pound programme, you will play a pivotal role in protecting and enhancing SZC’s corporate reputation, ensuring consistency in messaging, and providing clarity on performance, risks, and opportunities as we move through construction and into operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and lead SZC’s investor relations strategy and operating model, ensuring robust engagement and transparency with shareholders including HM Government and institutional investors.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Serve as the senior point of contact for all investor-facing matters, including key communications with HM Treasury, the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero, regulators, and EDF.
  • Executive Partnership: Provide direct support to the SZC Executive team and Board members, preparing materials and briefing for investor engagements, Board meetings, and public disclosures.
  • Annual Reporting: Oversee the production of SZC’s Annual Report—owning content development, stakeholder alignment, and governance sign-off.
  • Market & Regulatory Insight: Monitor market trends, anticipate stakeholder expectations, and ensure all investor communications are aligned with regulatory requirements and strategic goals.
  • Contingency & Issues Management: Lead contingency communications planning and response for investors in collaboration with external comms and legal teams.
  • High-Performing Team: Build and lead a lean but capable IR team, fostering a high-performance, delivery-focused culture across finance, communications, and legal interfaces.

What We’re Looking For

You will be a confident and credible communicator with the gravitas to engage at the highest levels of Government and industry. You’ll bring experience from a large, complex, and capital-intensive environment—ideally within energy, infrastructure, regulated utilities, or similarly high-stakes sectors. You understand the nuances of investor expectations and are skilled at translating complex operational and financial data into compelling narratives.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven track record in senior investor relations roles within large-scale organisations (FTSE 250 and above, or equivalent)
  • Experience managing relationships with Government stakeholders and institutional investors
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, governance, and reporting requirements
  • Experience leading high-profile annual report development and investor events
  • Familiarity with complex project-based or capital-intensive environments

Desirable:

  • Experience in energy, infrastructure, or engineering-led environments
  • Exposure to Government partnerships or public-private funding structures
  • Prior involvement in project financing or financial close processes

Key Attributes

  • Strategic thinker with strong political and commercial acumen
  • Highly emotionally intelligent and resilient in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • A collaborative leader who builds trust and alignment across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Integrity-driven, with a clear commitment to transparency and excellence

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
