Opportunity for a Senior Land Surveyor to work with Balfour Beatty on the Sizewell C Project,


Location : Sizewell, Suffolk
Salary : £40k-£60k per annum


Main Duties : 

 

  • Support the survey manager in the delivery of all survey requirements for the project.
  • Assist the survey manager in the development of all members of the project survey team members.
  • Implementing standardised approach to the capture of all survey data and creation of deliverables across the project.
  • This role will involve different survey processes as required to support the site teams. Tasks will vary but will include engineering control, topographic survey, engineering surveying and setting out. Provide supervision, office support for the survey teams. You will need to provide the site team with construction information, assist in QA/QC, and support H&S (Health & Safety) and sustainability initiatives within the survey department. Be fully conscious of company and industry safe standards of working and implement these within the construction environment.
  • Create site safety briefings to survey team members including the preparation of WPP (Work Package Plan), RA (Risk Assessment), and TBS (Task Briefing Sheets).
  • Ensure the survey team adhere to the latest BMS procedures
  • Maintain focus on Zero Harm 
  • Support delivery of sustainability activities
  • Manage and supervise survey teams
  • Produce deliverables to strict deadlines in accordance with the site programme 
  • Work collaboratively with all site teams and stakeholders
  • Supervising the mentoring and training requirements of survey team members
  • Collecting survey field data, processing, and issuing to clients or stakeholders in the agreed formats
  • Ensuring all site-specific tolerances are met in any survey related operations
  • Ensuring the safe and secure storage of all historical survey data relating to the project
  • Attend site briefings, site inductions and Toolbox Talks
  • Responsible for the safe working of themselves, their team and others whilst carrying out any survey related activities
  • Hazard identification and raising observation cards
  • Provide daily site safety briefings to the survey team, SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) essential
  • Creating site safety briefings including the preparation of WPP (Work Package Plan), RA (Risk Assessment), and TBS (Task Briefing Sheets).
  • Complete QA (Quality Assurance) records as required 
  • Manage the production of as-built drawings from survey data in survey specific software
  • Comply with hold point checks in accordance with the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) procedure. Formally comprise and issue results to all relevant stakeholders 
  • Manage site records of all survey related tasks 
  • Complete and submit weekly timesheet records
  • Ensure the inventory of survey equipment and consumables are accurately maintained
  • Advise on survey equipment procurement, staffing levels and training requirements


Experience : 


Essential

 

  • Extensive knowledge of survey specific software and processing applications including Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Proficient in IT (Information Technology) applications
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with the wider project team
  • Experience in settlement monitoring systems, methods, and technologies
  • Experience in geodetic requirements associated with project requirements
  • Experience using latest survey equipment, software, and technologies
  • Hold a full driving licence
  • Experience in establishing GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) networks


Desirable

 

  • An elevated level of understanding and experience in design, construction, and surveying within a construction environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications   
  • Experience in organising and managing site survey teams
  • Knowledge of and checking design deliverables in various digital formats
  • Appreciation of setting up and maintaining of machine control systems
  • Creating and maintaining survey models for setting out machine control 
  • Knowledge, experience and skill of implementing up to date survey data reality capture methods 
  • Knowledge and experience of setting up local base networks and establishing connected site environments 


Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) 


Desirable

 

  • Relevant degree, diploma, or equivalent industry recognised qualification 
  • Member of the CinstCES or RinstCS
  • Obtain SMSTS qualification
