Opportunity for a Senior Construction Manager - Infrastructure, Civil and Build- Nuclear New Build (Sizewell C) working with Mace on the Sizewell C Project,

The project:


Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes. It will be a close copy of Hinkley Point C which is already under construction in Somerset. These new power stations will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.


This is an exciting opportunity to be involved right from the start of such a historic project.


The role will require you to work from the project in Suffolk at least 4 days per week. BPSS security clearance will be required.


Duties: 

 

  • You will work as part of the senior construction delivery team, taking direction from construction lead and project senior leadership team, providing guidance to wider team.
  • You will build relationships to manage and influence senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • You will build a strong working relationship with your clients and support the construction lead in turning the client's vision into a deliverable onsite plan.
  • Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate the construction works, reporting to the construction site director.
  • Support the review and approval of contractor risk managements by the PC team.
  • Support the on-going development of the construction phase plan, and its implementation and compliance on site.
  • Support and monitor arrangements for managing health and safety throughout the construction phase.
  • Consult and engage with workers about their health, safety and welfare.
  • Monitor site to ensure that suitable welfare facilities are provided from the start and maintained throughout the construction phase.
  • Support and ensure that all workers have site-specific inductions, and any further information and training they need.
  • Support and monitor arrangements to prevent unauthorised access to the site, wherever practicable.
  • You will work to ensure that budgets and other operations are fiscally and ethically viable and meet organisational and legislative compliance obligations.
  • You will support the senior construction delivery team in influencing the long-term development of strategy for a function or Business Unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future.
  • You will commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, and take ownership for holding others to account who do not uphold the Mace values.  


You'll need to have: 

 

  • Degree or other industry recognised qualification in construction management, civil engineering, or similar related sector. 
  • You are SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.
  • Experienced on medium to large scale infrastructure civil projects.
  • Experience in the delivery of more than one of the key disciplines; Highways, Rail, Utilities, Site Establishment, Earthworks, Piling.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety and CDM requirements. 
  • Ability to build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams. 
  • Membership of MCIOB / MAPM / MRICS / MICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Construction management expertise.
