About the Project

We’re seeking an experienced security professional to manage the security risk management team for Sizewell C — one of the UK’s most important clean energy projects.

This role is about more than assessments. You will ensure Sizewell C can anticipate, prepare for, and respond to a wide spectrum of threats and vulnerabilities across our main site, offsite infrastructure, and supply chain. By identifying and managing risks effectively, you will help protect our people, assets and operations, while also safeguarding the project’s reputation, resilience, and ability to deliver at pace.

You will work closely with the construction and operations teams to support the safe delivery of their scope of works, making sure that risks are understood early and proportionate controls are built in. You will also play a leading role in building a positive security culture, ensuring that awareness, accountability, and good practice are embedded across the project and its partners.

The key challenge will be ensuring security risks are managed proportionately across a complex and rapidly evolving construction programme, while shaping a culture that makes security everyone’s responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and develop the security risk management team, setting direction and providing mentorship.
Conduct and review Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVAs) across project activities.
Ensure risks are identified, recorded, tracked and addressed through the project lifecycle.
Translate assessment findings into clear and practical Operational Requirements.
Work closely with the construction team to support the safe and secure delivery of their works.
Provide assurance of contract partners’ security arrangements and Security Management Plans.
Support the supply chain in identifying, documenting and implementing proportionate security measures.
Champion and drive the project’s security culture through training, engagement and leadership example.
Collaborate with operations and offsite leads to ensure risk management outputs and cultural initiatives are embedded into daily delivery.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

We’re looking for someone who can combine hands-on security risk expertise with the ability to manage people and influence across a major infrastructure project.
Significant experience in delivering risk-based security strategies on large or complex projects.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Skilled in creation of security risk assessments and producing Operational Requirements.
Experience supporting construction or operational delivery through risk-based security planning.
Ability to develop and embed a strong security culture across diverse teams.
Experience in assurance of contractors and supply chain partners.
Excellent analytical, communication and report-writing skills.
Degree (or equivalent experience).
Eligible to hold, or currently holding, NSV SC clearance.

Desirable:

Background in the civil nuclear sector or other regulated/government security environments.
Knowledge of ONR, CNC or Home Office security frameworks.
Experience in developing policies, procedures or governance frameworks.
Professional recognition such as Chartered Security Professional (CSyP), or certifications such as CPP (ASIS International).
Experience in incident planning, protest management, or intelligence analysis.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
