Opportunity for a Quality Assurance Risk Lead (Sizewell C) working with Mactech on the Sizewell C Project,
Description & Background:
Join the expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and contribute to one of the UKs most significant infrastructure projects. This role is critical to supporting Britains Net Zero goals by developing a nuclear power station that will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years. As part of a pioneering team, youll work on a project that has obtained planning approval and government financing support.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Integrate assurance activities across three Lines of Defense (Project Delivery, Internal Audit, Independent Nuclear Assurance)
- Develop and execute risk-based audit schedules aligned with project milestones
- Coordinate audit activities to avoid duplication and effectively address project risks
- Conduct targeted audits and inspections to support project quality interventions
- Manage compliance and non-conformance tracking
- Facilitate root cause analysis and ensure lessons learned are applied across the project
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on audit outcomes and compliance risks
- Support development of dashboards and metrics to visualize audit progress and risk trends
Essential Skills & Attributes:

- Ability to influence and drive behavioural change
- Strong communication and presentation capabilities
- Decisive decision-making with ability to craft compelling arguments
- Experience leading small teams in assurance or audit functions
- Ability to work across assurance functions, risk management, and project teams
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, or related field
- Extensive experience in internal audits, nuclear assurance, or quality management
- Comprehensive understanding of Three Lines of Defense model
- Expert knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 14001)
- Strong understanding of nuclear regulatory frameworks
- Proficiency in audit and risk management tools (e.g., Power BI)
- Experience working within UK regulatory environment
Desirable Qualifications:
- Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
- Technical knowledge of nuclear safety design
- Experience working with regulators in dynamic environments
- Problem-solving expertise in complex infrastructure projects
- Previous nuclear industry experience

- Based in Suffolk or London office
- Hybrid working available
- Full-time, permanent position
