Project Manager- Strategy (Sizewell C)
Civil Works Alliance

Join the Civil Works Alliance as a Project Manager in ESG and Strategic Operations

I am thrilled to offer a unique opportunity for an experienced Project Manager specializing in ESG and Strategic Operations to join our team at the Civil Works Alliance (CWA). As part of our efforts on the landmark Sizewell C (SZC) project-a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes-you will be integral to our mission of creating a sustainable energy future for the UK, delivering reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.

In this vital role, you'll report directly to the Strategic Operations Director and focus on embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles throughout our project operations. You will ensure the effective development and integration of critical ESG-related processes and systems, including:

  • Developing the CWA Information Management System (IMS)
  • Defining the ESG-centric operating model for CWA teams
  • Rolling out visual management processes with an ESG lens
  • Manage projects to develop a sense of ownership from all stakeholders and to communicate changes to processes and systems effectively, to ensure smooth adoption.
  • Monitor projects for change, capture change and react accordingly to provide the best outcome for the alliance.
  • Delivering the Alliance & Behavioural coaching programmes with a focus on ESG standards
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the programme teaM

Your work will be crucial in aligning our partners and internal teams with our ESG goals, streamlining our processes, and ensuring that the Alliance matures effectively to meet its strategic objectives. You will be responsible for developing detailed project plans, managing stakeholder relationships, optimizing resource utilization, overseeing ESG-related change management initiatives, and continuously monitoring and reporting on performance through an ESG framework.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in programme or project management, particularly in roles with a strong ESG focus within large and complex organizations. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage key stakeholders on ESG and Strategic Operations issues are essential. A proven track record of managing and delivering complex deliverables that align with ESG standards is a must.

At the CWA, we are deeply committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates who are passionate about making a significant impact on the future of energy in the UK through strong ESG practices.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
