Programme Manager - Nuclear Island (Sizewell C)


Lead the Delivery of a Low-Carbon Energy Future

Sizewell C is looking for an exceptional Programme Manager to take charge of the end-to-end delivery of a critical portfolio of Systems, Structures, and Components for the SZC Nuclear Island – a programme valued at over £2bn.


This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, contributing to the development of sustainable, low-carbon energy solutions while driving innovation and operational excellence.


Location: Initially based in London, and then moving to Suffolk in 4-5 years, with significant business trips.

About the Role


As a Programme Manager, you will:

 

  • Lead and inspire a team of 10–30 Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, ensuring the successful delivery of large, complex engineering projects.
  • Oversee all phases of project delivery, from engineering and procurement to construction and commissioning, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, time, and cost constraints.
  • Shape strategies, mobilise resources, and manage key stakeholder relationships to deliver business objectives and secure project milestones.
  • Build and foster a collaborative environment where innovation thrives, risks are managed proactively, and challenges are met with sustainable solutions.
  • Influence the future of nuclear energy by integrating advanced methodologies and championing continuous improvement.
     

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and coordinate large-scale programmes, ensuring maximum efficiency in resource allocation.
  • Drive the delivery of high-value engineering projects to time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Establish robust processes to monitor project progress, address risks, and manage dependencies between workstreams.
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, shaping policy, strategy, and execution for the SZC Project.
  • Deliver timely and transparent communication to all stakeholders, ensuring alignment across the programme.
     

What We’re Looking For:


We’re seeking a strategic thinker and dynamic leader with:

 

  • Extensive experience managing complex, high-value programmes and leading diverse teams in an engineering or technical environment, within the Nuclear sector.
  • Strong expertise in project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent, with a proven track record of successful delivery.
  • Advanced planning, risk management, and quality management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to inspire trust and influence at all levels.
  • A passion for innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the energy industry.
