The role provides functional leadership of Programme Controls across one or more multi-billion-pound sub-programmes within the Civils Works Programme (CWP) of Sizewell C. Reporting to the Head of Civils Works PMO, you will drive high-quality, forward-looking project controls to enable successful delivery across the Civil Works Alliance (CWA)-comprising SZC, Laing O'Rourke, Balfour Beatty and Bouygues Travaux Publics-covering Enabling & Earthworks, Marine & Tunnels, Main Civils, and Ancillary works.


You will own and continuously improve all Project Controls processes (schedule, cost, risk, change, reporting), ensuring alignment to SZC governance, delivery models, and deadlines. A key part of the role is championing innovation and digital-first controls solutions.


The ideal candidate brings deep experience in large, complex project environments, with a strong understanding of integrated Project Controls and the ability to challenge, assure, and guide outputs across multidisciplinary teams. You must be adept at prioritising multiple workstreams, influencing senior leaders, and deputising for the Head of Civils Works PMO when required.


Main Duties:


Lead day-to-day management of the sub-programme Project Controls team (Schedule, Cost, Risk, Change, Reporting & Insights) and coordinate/assure CWA controls activities.
Deliver industry-leading, integrated Project Controls across schedule, cost, risk, baseline/change, and reporting.
Develop, implement, and maintain Integrated Project Controls processes, systems, tools, and work instructions.
Support and deputise for the Head of Civils Works PMO, including planning and coordination of budget cycles, estimates, schedule deep-dives, and other PMO-led activities.
Oversee progress reporting-schedule updates, forecasts, variance analysis, and improvement opportunities.
Engage and assure supply-chain project controls data and performance.
Own timely, high-quality month-end performance reporting and the effective operation of the lines-of-defence assurance process.
Promote SZC as a project controls exemplar through knowledge sharing and sector engagement.
Coach, support, and develop senior Project Controls professionals.


Requirements:


•    Degree or equivalent qualification in business analysis, accounting, finance, construction, engineering or project management, or related technical field.
•    A track record of working as a Project Controls Director on large and complex infrastructure projects.
•    Experience of working within multiple Project Controls Functions of: cost control, estimating, scheduling, change management and risk management.
•    Detailed understanding of earned value analysis.
•    Experience of successfully managing a team in a matrix structure on a project. 
•    Experience with increasing responsibility showing an ability to manage senior stakeholders. 
•    Deliverables focused and an accomplished problem solver, rising to meet any challenge. 
•    Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
•    Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
