Dalkia have an opportunity for a Portable Appliance Testing Operative to join their growing facilities management team, working across the facilities at Sizewell C.

 

General Overview


This role is based at Sizewell C' - Primarily responsible for all Portable Appliance Testing and ensuring that the facilities provide a safe and secure environment that enables the client's staff to concentrate on their business activities with minimum disruption.
The Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Operative will ensure electrical safety in the workplace by inspecting and testing portable appliances to meet regulatory standards. They conduct visual inspections, earth continuity/insulation tests, apply safety labels, and document results, this could include travel to other client locations around Sizewell and Ipswich to manage appliance safety compliance.


Key Responsibilities & Duties:


•    Inspecting and Testing: Perform in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (PAT) in accordance with the IET Code of Practice.
•    Technical Tasks: Carry out earth continuity tests, insulation resistance tests, and appliance checks, including checking for damaged plugs, cables, or casings.
•    Documentation: Accurately record and submit test results, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
•    Maintenance: Perform basic repairs such as replacing fuses, re-wiring plugs, and applying pass/fail labels.
•    Client Representation: Travel to various sites to conduct tests with minimal disruption to business operations.
•    Safety Compliance: Ensure all portable appliances are safe for use and comply with health and safety regulations.


Requirements and Qualifications:


•    Knowledge: Role in similar position preferred. Strong understanding of electrical safety and testing procedures.
•    Certification: City and Guilds 2377 qualification (or equivalent) is typically desired, though training is often provided.
•    Skills: High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Excellent communication, and client facing skills
•    Logistics: Due to the nature of Sizewell C' setup you will be expected to get the local bus service around site; no vehicle will be included. 


Impact


This role is to ensure that Dalkia have the correct resource levels to meet the contract and client expectations; there is no direct responsibility for budgets or people. The role is to assist in ensuring that the office facilities are operating correctly and are successful in allowing our customers to concentrate on their business activities with minimum disruption.
