Job Responsibilities 


The CWA Plant offsite storage supervisor supervises and manages the daily operations of an outdoor storage facility, focusing on the safe and efficient organization, storage, and movement of materials and equipment. 


Key responsibilities include supervising yard personnel, coordinating inbound and outbound logistics, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with safety and company policies. The role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to maintain a productive and secure yard environment. 


They will be based on the off-storage facilities in Lowestoft with visit on site for coordination meeting with the CWA plant lead. 


They will report to the CWA plant manager in charge of formwork and assets, and temporary to the CWA plant leader 


The scope will include a list of activities to coordinate the plant movements within the project including but not limited to the following:


Core responsibilities:

• Set up: Prepare and install the facilities in coordination with the plant team and CWA services, offices, yard for security and safety, fencing, network connection for electrical, water

• Development: Be part of the setting out yard, develop the zoning storage to facilitate the inventory of the assets storage

• Recommendation: Organizes and recommend the plant resources to optimize the operations on the yard

• Supervision and Team Management: Oversee and coordinate the activities of yard workers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Daily Activity Briefings to be carried out and documented accordingly. Ensure SOP's, task sheets and RAMs are in place and kept up to date with changes. Maintain clear plant and people segregation throughout the yard area.

• Safety and Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols (e.g., OSHA standards), conduct regular safety inspections and audits, and investigate any incidents or accidents. Daily Activity Briefings to be carried out and documented accordingly. Ensure SOP's, task sheets and RAMs are in place and kept up to date with changes. Maintain clear plant and people segregation throughout the yard area.

• Inventory Control and Management: Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records of all materials, equipment, and supplies stored in the yard. This includes tracking incoming and outgoing shipments, preventing stock shortages, and minimizing material contamination.

• Logistics Coordination: Schedule and monitor inbound and outbound deliveries and shipments, coordinating with transport, logistics, and site teams to ensure materials are available when needed at construction sites.

• Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Manage the operation of heavy machinery such as forklifts, loaders, and cranes, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained, operational, and that pre-use inspections are conducted and documented.

• Yard Organization and Efficiency: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient yard layout to optimize space utilization and workflow, identifying and implementing process improvements where necessary.

• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate reports, logs, and documentation related to yard activities, inventory levels, safety incidents, and equipment maintenance


Qualifications 


• Previous experience in a supervisory role within construction, logistics, or yard operations is typically required, often a minimum of 3-5 year

• ECS, AP, NCP, CPCS, SMTS, CSCS

• IOSH

• NVQ 3-4


Experience 


• Strong understanding of safety regulations (e.g., health & safety, OSHA) and inventory management systems, yard management.

• Experience in yard operations or logistics is essential

• Problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills are essential.

• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain order

• Nuclear/license condition experience. 

• Experience of managing similar system in civil engineering projects.

• Ability to implement and maintain safety programs
