Opportunity for a Plant Lead (Sizewell C) working with Balfour Beatty on the Sizewell C Project,


The ability to demonstrate "thought leadership", developing capability across teams thereby aligning work with SZC's strategic objectives.
The Alliance Earthworks Plant Leader will start the project in a strategic role based in London at the project office, with visits to the Suffolk area to gain familiarity. Then more Suffolk based as the earthworks project commences.


The successful candidate will need to have a good grasp of the schedule, milestones, DCO and permit commitments, local supply chain rational and safety system of work. The successful candidate will report directly to the CWA plant leader 


The scope will include a list of activities to coordinate all the plant within the earthworks and associated logistics operations within the civils project including but not limited to the following:

 

  • In charge of the Plant and Equipment mobilized for the enabling works, earthworks, foundations, backfilling scope of work, ie crawler cranes, dozers, ADT, excavator, aggregate mixing batching plant 
  • Earthworks Plant Department set up - coordination of design, installation and operations
  • Involved in the process, procedure and strategy within the CWA plant department, and ensure its applied in its scope of work.    
  • Permanent and temporary plant forecasting and management, supply chain liaison, material flow development and reporting.
  • Implementation and monitoring of Health and Safety Standards and Procedures across the Earthworks Plant Department.
  • Transport planning and management, including road, rail and shipping, both on and off site  
  • Forecasting, maintenance and management of all Plant and Equipment used for the construction of the Alliance works.
  • Ensure the Asset and Maintenance Management application are used, data recorded, for activity reporting 
  • Ensure the plant and equipment utilisation tools are used to track and trace the machine 
  • Monitor your fleet of machines and optimize it, be source of proposal 
  • Input into the development of cost management and forecasting processes with regards to the plant department scope.
  • Forecasting, management and maintenance of the earthwork machines 
  • Management of external Plant and Equipment supply chains for the earthwork machines.
  • Scope staff and workforce forecasting, monitoring and reporting within the earthworks scope.
  • Development of robust facility and workshop to be able to maintain and repair the heavy plant and equipment purchased  
  • Insight and motivation to support performance and capability development.
  • Be an advocate for Sustainability best practise and innovation in your function, ensure ongoing developments & improvements are made to maximise the benefits to the business & celebrate successes.


Qualifications & Experience


Essential

 

  • CSCS PQP Card and/or CSCS Black Managers Card.
  • SMSTS or IOSH Managing safety. 
  • Experience of leading a Plant team on large UK civil engineering projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in heavy duty machinery 


Desirable 

 

  • Experience working within Joint Ventures/Alliances.
  • UK major construction experience and associated training.
  • CILT(UK) Level 5 Diploma in Operations Management
  • CILT(UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport
