Opportunity for a Plant & Vehicle Marshaller (CPCS A73) (Sizewell C) working with Ballycommon on the Sizewell C Project,
Main Duties:
- Direct Plant and Vehicle Movements: Safely guide and control the movement of site vehicles, delivery wagons, and heavy plant (including excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, cranes, etc.) around site and within designated traffic management zones.
- Establish and Maintain Exclusion Zones: Set up and manage pedestrian and vehicle segregation areas to ensure safety and compliance with the site traffic plan.
- Communicate Clearly with Drivers and Operators: Use approved hand signals or two-way radios to maintain effective communication and direct vehicle movements safely, especially in restricted or congested areas.
- Conduct Visual Safety Checks: Ensure delivery and plant access routes are clear from obstruction and hazards before any movement is carried out.
- Assist with Reversing and Manoeuvring: Guide large or articulated vehicles during reversing or tight turns, particularly in busy compounds or unloading zones.
- Support Loading and Offloading Operations: Oversee the safe delivery of materials, checking load security and assisting drivers where required during offloading or crane-assisted lifting.
- Adhere to Site Safety Procedures: Follow all site-specific RAMS, traffic management plans, and toolbox talks. Report unsafe practices or hazards immediately.
- Coordinate with Site Teams: Work closely with traffic marshals, crane supervisors, plant operators, and delivery drivers to maintain efficient and safe site logistics.
- Maintain Clear Access Routes: Assist with tidying up routes and delivery zones, removing minor obstructions or debris that may impact vehicle access or pedestrian safety.
- Complete Daily Reports or Logs (if required): Record key deliveries, vehicle movements, and any near-miss incidents to support site compliance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- CPCS A73 - Plant and Vehicle Marshaller Card
- In-date and valid
- Demonstrates competence in safely guiding plant and vehicles on site in accordance with industry best practice and HSE guidelines
- CSCS Card
- Usually integrated with the CPCS card
- Must be valid and up to date for access to construction and infrastructure sites
- CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Test - Operatives Level
- Must have been passed within the last 2 years to validate CPCS card
- Right to Work in the UK
- Valid UK passport, birth certificate, or share code (for non-UK nationals)

Additional Training / Certifications (desirable or site-specific):
- Vehicle Banksman / Traffic Marshal Awareness
- Manual Handling Awareness
- First Aid at Work
- CAT & Genny Training (if assisting with plant near services)
- Temporary Works Awareness (if assisting near excavations or lifts)
- Fire Marshal / Emergency Evacuation Training (for compound duties)
- Proven experience safely directing plant and vehicles on live construction, infrastructure, or civil engineering sites, ensuring smooth and hazard-free movement in line with site traffic plans.
- Skilled in marshalling a wide range of vehicles and machinery, including excavators, dumpers, cranes, wagons, telehandlers, and articulated delivery vehicles.
- Familiar with high-traffic, high-risk environments, such as busy compounds, tight access sites, public interfaces, and logistics zones.
- Competent in setting up and managing exclusion zones, pedestrian segregation, and temporary barriers to maintain safe working areas around plant operations.
- Experienced in using standard hand signals and two-way radios to communicate with drivers and plant operators clearly and effectively.
- Supported safe loading and offloading operations, ensuring loads are secure, delivery areas are clear, and coordination with lifting teams is maintained.
- Confident in carrying out pre-movement checks, identifying route obstructions, poor ground conditions, or visibility issues before plant manoeuvres take place.
- Worked alongside crane supervisors, lift teams, site logistics managers, and groundworkers, providing reliable support during deliveries and material movements.
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, energy, and construction projects, such as highways, power stations, housing developments, and complex civils packages.
- Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, reporting near misses and ensuring compliance with RAMS, toolbox talks, and site procedures.
