Location: London or Bristol (3 days per week) with monthly travel to Paris.

Employment basis: Permanent and the role is expected to be a full-time position.

The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.

Following on from the success of the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project (SZC) in Suffolk is the UK’s next nuclear power new build project. The project has obtained planning approval and has started construction works. It has recently achieved Financial Investment Decision (FID) meaning that all the funding for the full lifespan of the project is now secured and in place guaranteeing the full delivery of this new nuclear power station. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

The Inspection Manager at Sizewell C plays a key role in integrating manufacturing and surveillance activities to support the delivery of nuclear components and systems. This is not a traditional inspection or quality control role. Instead, it focused on bringing manufacturing and surveillance together. Managing expert teams and coordinating with external organisations responsible for executing manufacturing and surveillance tasks.

This a leadership role and you’ll lead teams of manufacturing discipline experts and quality engineering professionals who travel to suppliers to oversee and support the execution of works. The Inspection Manager is responsible for delegating tasks to the appropriate organisations, monitoring what they are doing, managing performance and resolving issues that may impact project delivery.

A significant part of the role includes collaboration with EDF SA, the RD Consortium, Edvance, and other stakeholders to assess performance, ensure results are satisfactory and address any concerns. The Inspection Manager also plays a governance role, chairing monthly Manufacturing Steering Committee meetings to review how manufacturing and surveillance activities are progressing, highlight any issues and presenting plans to resolve them.

This position requires strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills, along with the ability to manage complex reporting and governance processes. If you’re a Manufacturer Surveillance Coordinator this could be a great fit for you.

The Skills

Degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
Experience leading inspection and manufacturing surveillance teams on large-scale projects.
Skilled in engaging senior stakeholders to drive high-quality outcomes.
Proven ability to manage high-performing teams and resolve delivery challenges.
Strong communicator, able to navigate complex interfaces and influence across organisations.
Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems, especially ISO 9001 in industrial contexts.
Effective team leader with coaching, delegation, and review capabilities.
Capable of producing clear, concise, and informative reports.
Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills.

Desirable

Experience in manufacturing or inspection on major projects.
Background in nuclear or similarly regulated industries.
Ability to identify and collaborate with subject matter experts.
Tact and patience is frequently required to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome.
Experience working closely with surveillance organisations.

Unfortunately, this means we are not able to provide visa sponsorship or support with immigration applications. To be considered, applicants must already hold the legal right to live and work in the UK. We are committed to equality of opportunity and warmly welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who meet this requirement.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
