The Civil Works Alliance is on the lookout for an experienced and dynamic HSW Systems Lead to play a key role in driving the success of the Sizewell C Project!

 

In this exciting position, you'll take charge of developing, communicating, implementing, and continually refining the CWA Safety Management System (SMS). You'll ensure the SMS evolves to stay ahead of risks, providing the essential framework to keep safety at the forefront of everything we do. Working closely with project teams, you'll be a vital part of achieving operational excellence, ensuring Health, Safety, and Wellbeing are consistently upheld to the highest standards as we deliver this ground breaking project.

 


Key Responsibilities

- Support the Head of HSW and the wider functional team in developing a suitable and effective Safety Management System (SMS) for the CWA.
- Liaise with the Integrated Management System (IMS) development team in preparation for the launch of the CWA IMS.
- Monitor changes in legislation, as well as updates from clients and parent companies, to ensure the CWA SMS remains compliant.
- Support the implementation of the CWA SMS and ensure compliance through ongoing engagement and assurance activities.
- Prepare fact-driven reports following engagements and audits of the CWA SMS.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with CWA project teams and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure lessons learned from monitoring, events, or parent companies are communicated and integrated into the CWA SMS.
- Support the implementation of the Nuclear Safety message during engagements with the entire CWA team.

 

Qualifications 

- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Managers and Professionals competence

 


Experience 

- Able to plan and manage workload for self and for the team.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Ability to influence and promote a positive HSW culture, by providing constructive feedback to others around their performance, strengths and development needs.
- Able to engage at all levels within the CWA operational team structure.
- Has a good understanding of UK Health and Safety Legislation.
- Able to use data and information for the preparation of HSW SMS reports.
- Experience with using and developing health and safety management systems.
- Experience of managing people / direct reports
