We are currently seeking a Head of Civils Works Programme Management Office for our client at Sizewell C.


Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Implement the Civils Works PMO
  • Implement the PMO vision, mission and operating model, with clarity on work scope to be delivered within the programme of work and the interfaces to the other programmes. Drive delivery of this scope to a high standard (safely, quality, time and cost) within the overall Sizewell PMO framework.
  • Lead a team, capable of delivering the work scope, with clear roles and responsibilities and delivery accountabilities.
  • Build and manage constructive relationships with the CWA (in particular with the Project Controls team), working collaboratively on a 'best for Sizewell C' basis.


Leadership and Culture

 

  • This role, working in a matrix structure, reports into the Head of Programme Controls and at a programme level, the Civils Works Programme Director, forming part of their Leadership cabinet.
  • Translate high-level SZC project and CWP strategic initiatives into detailed, robust action plans with clear timelines and deliverables.
  • This role will be leading on the implementation of the above procedures, initiatives and plans within the supply-chain.
  • Provide leadership to the team so they are fully aware of their objectives and goals to deliver the action plans.
  • Ensure that the "visions, values and ambitions" of the business are communicated and lived.
  • Role model and promote the project values. Develop a cost-conscious culture within the project and foster a culture of continuous improvement and organisational learning.
  • Day to day management of the Functional Leads of Schedule, Risk, Cost, Change, Reporting & Insights and Data & IM within the Civils Works PMO.
  • Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the programme. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, with escalation as required.
  • Assist in leading, coaching and supporting PMO resources across Sizewelll C.


Stakeholder engagement & Key Decisions

 

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all project team members across Central PMO, CWP and CWA.
  • This role holder will be responsible for influencing the decisions taken by CWP Project Director and Head of Programme Controls.
  • Assis the CWP Project Director and Head of Programme Controls in build and maintaining key stakeholder relationships, including government bodies, shareholders, regulators and suppliers to provide assurance and build confidence.
  • Collaborative working with other Heads of PMO and Programme Controls Managers.
  • Represent the project externally as appropriate, showcasing the progress and achievements of the project.


Qualifications/Experience:

 

  • Active membership of AACE, PMI, APM or similar association with association certifications.
  • User of a range of reporting and analytics software and project controls systems particularly Power BI.
  • Understanding of various contract types, in particular the NEC suite and FIDIC.
  • Experience in the Nuclear sector.

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in business analysis, accounting, finance, construction, engineering or project management, or related technical field.
  • A track record of working as a Project Controls Director on large and complex infrastructure projects.
  • Experience of working within multiple Project Controls Functions of: cost control, estimating, scheduling, change management and risk management.
  • Detailed understanding of earned value analysis.
  • Experience of successfully managing a team in a matrix structure on a project.
  • Experience with increasing responsibility showing an ability to manage senior stakeholders.
  • Deliverables focused and an accomplished problem solver, rising to meet any challenge.
  • Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
