Dalkia have an opportunity for an HVAC Engineer to join their growing facilities maintenance team, working across the facilities at Sizewell C.


General Overview

The HVAC Engineer plays a crucial role within the engineering sector, specialising in an understanding of the design, implementation, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This professional ensures that environmental systems operate effectively, efficiently, and safely in buildings and facilities.


Predominantly based at Orwell, you will be an integral part of the site maintenance team in ensuring that the Sizewell C and EDF facilities/properties run smoothly and are successful in supporting business activities and for providing a professional service for our client. You will also be required to be part of the call out Rota which will result in a Stand-by payment, of approx. 1 in 5 or more if required to cover.

  • Follow Dalkia Guiding Principles
  • Report all Health and Safety issues immediately
  • Action both Risk Assessments and Point of work Risk Assessments                


Responsibilities

The daily duties of an HVAC Engineer can vary significantly depending on the project and employer. However, common tasks will include:


•    Understand the Design HVAC systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
•    Install HVAC systems according to design specifications.
•    Perform regular maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
•    Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing HVAC systems.
•    Ensure all HVAC work complies with relevant codes and standards.
•    Prepare detailed reports on system performance and maintenance activities.
•    Develop and implement HVAC system upgrades and retrofits.
•    Provide technical support and guidance to other team members.
•    Stay current with industry advancements and best practices.
•    If appropriate report on the performance of any sub-contracted works. 'Setting to Work' ensuring that all RAMS are appropriately adhered to and correct. Conducting and supervising installations and ensuring conformity with engineering designs and standards.
•    Participate in Health & Safety Codes of Safe Working and other Environmental issues to ensure total compliance with both Sizewell C and Dalkia Health, Safety and Environmental Policy. 
•    Report any omissions or risks that might compromise a Safe Working Environment
•    Fault find and where possible fix AC Units, installed pipework, at various locations for the client.
•    Ensure all maintenance consumables are available and arrange replenishment of all items to ensure agreed stock levels are established.
•    Attend to all reasonable emergency call-out requests as speedily as possible and maintain good communications with the Client with the progress of all outstanding works.
•    Make recommendations to the Technical Lead on matters concerning continuous improvement and "adding value" that may improve the productivity, costs, quality of service delivery etc. of all work for which the Company has a responsibility.


Qualifications:

•    Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or related field.


Qualifications or Required Experience: 

•    Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or related field.
•    Member of an HVAC related governing body / association.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC system design and installation.

•    Strong knowledge of HVAC codes and standards.
•    Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Basic IT skills as tablet will be supplied for Health and Safety reporting, Timesheets PPM's, and Reactive works
•    Role in similar position preferred.
•    Qualification in Health and Safety (IOSH or similar).
•    Clean Driving Licence
