Opportunity for a Foreman working with Blackwells on the Sizewell C project,

You will be directly responsible and accountable for the day-to-day performance of the teams assigned to you, including responsibility for health, safety and environmental issues as well as production and any record keeping required.


Details:

 

  • Accountable for the health, and safety of your workforce and environmental protection of the surrounding area.  It is expected that you will be visiting each team under your direct control daily and ensuring compliance with H&S policy and procedure including stopping work if you notice non-compliance.
  • Accountable for productivity.  It is expected that you will work with the team Supervisors including by taking direct control and demonstrating effective supervision such that teams are as efficient as possible.
  • Following the plan.  It is expected that you will ensure that teams are performing the work planned for them.
  • Assist in planning. It is expected that you will work with the project staff in formulating plans, including participating in detailed planning sessions to establish planned patterns of working as well as the key metrics that will be used to measure performance against plan
  • Quality.  You are responsible for ensuring the construction methods are followed.  You will also be responsible for ensuring ITP's are respected and no hold points passed without seeing the appropriate signatures.
  • Materials.  You will be responsible for day-to-day order of any materials needed for your section of works including gas oil, water, adblue, imported stone, geotextiles etc.
  • Records.  You will be responsible for the quality and completeness of the Daily Allocation Sheets filled out by the team Supervisors. Where digital sheets are in use you will be expected to ensure all Supervisors under your control "buy in" to their production and fully engage with the use of the electronic tablets. 
  • You will be responsible for the enforcement and collection of the Daily Plant Checks, and ensuring that any defective plant is parked up where required and reported promptly.
  • You will be responsible for providing key feedback on the performance of the people under your control.  You will not have direct line manager responsibility or accountability as far as HR process goes.
  • You will follow the procedures stated in the Blackwell guides, particularly the Standard Operating Procedures, Permit to Work Memo, and any Client imposed requirements


Qualifications/Experience : 

 

  • SMSTS qualification and minimum of CSCS Gold Card.
  • 10 years minimum in the industry, 5 in a supervisory role
  • Demonstrable first-class approach to health, safety and environmental issues.
  • Experience of managing multiple earthworks gangs, with the ability to co-ordinate activities and ensure maximum production / minimum downtime from each item of plant.
  • A good working knowledge of machine / application matching, production outputs, and Series 600 Specification for Highway Works. 
  • Knowledge of how to implement the use of GPS machine guidance effectively.
  • Capable of reading and working to a 3-week programme.
  • A sound understanding of quality requirements, and the ability to follow an ITP and adhere to Hold Points.
  • Able to work professionally with Clients representatives of a similar level or one step higher on a daily basis, and where required, engage with visiting Client representatives of all levels.
  • Robustly defend the companies interests where required.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership, and be visible and approachable by employees, other staff, and Clients. Ensure everyone on site is treated fairly and with respect.
