Environment & Sustainability Advisor (Sizewell C)

Main Duties:


· Provide advice and support to operational teams on environmental matters and compliance with the Development Consent Order
· Develop and maintain local environmental management and sustainability plans
· Maintain relationships with regulators (as required), clients and subcontractors
· Develop and maintain relationships with local stakeholders (as required)
· Investigate and report incidents to the site environment team, supervisors and project managers.
· Attend project meetings with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders
· Ensure on site compliance with environmental legislation and coach teams in applying controls and mitigations
· Deliver value adding environment projects and support ecological enhancements
· Contribute and maintain management plans and monitor compliance across the project
· Liaise with client, regulatory bodies (as required) and subcontractors on matters of environmental management and sustainability
· Produce and update environmental management plans, environmental risk assessments and site information packs
· Provide on-site advice to operations and design teams on environmental management, compliance and project specific mitigation measures including pollution control and ecological and archaeological protection
· Investigate environmental incidents and support the business to implement controls to prevent repeat occurrence
· Ensure implementation of the project environmental management systems on the project
· Be aware of any changes to standards and legislation and where applicable recommend changes to systems and processes
· Deliver environmental training, toolbox talks and undertake onsite coaching
· Produce internal and external reports as required
· Support and conduct audit and assurance activities including facilitating external audits by clients and certification bodies


Requirements:


· Educated to degree level in Environmental Science or Environmental Management or other applicable disciplines.
· IEMA Membership
· Full UK driver's licence and flexibility to travel


Desirable


· Internal environmental auditor qualification
· Master's degree in relevant field
· NEBOSH H&S Diploma or equivalent


Experience:


· Knowledge of environment management and sustainable development
· Practical experience and knowledge of environmental legislation, ecology and archaeology mitigation, environmental licences, consent applications and regulators
· Understanding of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment=
· Literate in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook
· Understanding of ecological and archaeological matters and environmental law
· Good interpersonal skills


Desirable


· Competent ecological surveyor for one protected species
· Knowledge or experience of DCO and NSIPs
· Knowledge of the Construction Industry
