Digital Engineer (Sizewell C)
The SZC Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across our Project. #SZCJobs
Opportunity for a Digital Engineer (Sizewell C) working with The Civil Works Alliance on the Sizewell Project,
Main Duties:
- Create and manage detailed 3D models for excavation, backfill, site roads, logistics, and sequencing using Civil 3D and Blender3D as core tools.
- Integrate survey data, drone outputs, and point clouds into modelling workflows to produce digital terrain models (DTMs), volumetric analysis, and isopach surfaces.
- Support federation and clash detection using Navisworks and contribute to 4D simulations and visual planning sequences.
- Apply Blender3D to handle advanced mesh modelling, surface reconstruction, visualisation, and model refinement tasks, working in parallel with Civil 3D outputs.
- Work closely with the Digital Earthworks Lead to implement workflows aligned with the Earthworks Management Mobilisation & Digitalisation Plan.
- Prepare site layout plans, haul routes, temporary works models, and construction models to assist engineering and site operations.
- Assist in developing and maintaining modelling templates, standards, and libraries for consistent, repeatable delivery across the project.
- Provide structured model outputs suitable for integration into GIS, construction records, reporting tools, and machine control systems.
- Ensure all model data adheres to project BIM/CAD standards and structured file naming conventions for traceability and QA.
- Collaborate with survey, planning, and engineering teams to ensure modelling outputs meet operational and technical requirements.
- Blender3D is an essential part of the modelling workflow. Prior experience is beneficial, but training will be provided if needed to ensure proficiency in its use alongside Civil 3D
Qualifications/Experience:
- Excellent understanding of infrastructure project delivery processes and challenges.
- Strong interest in and understanding of construction industry improvement agenda and the current industry-standard and industry-leading use of digital technologies and data within infrastructure
- Proficiency in Civil 3D for terrain modelling, surfaces, grading, alignments, corridors, and quantity take-offs.
- Hands-on experience or willingness to learn Blender3D as a core modelling tool for mesh processing, surface reconstruction, and visual modelling workflows.
- Familiarity with Navisworks or Solibri for model federation and coordination.
- Experience working with survey data, point clouds, drone outputs, and geospatial datasets.
- Understanding of GIS platforms (e.g. ArcGIS/QGIS) and data formats.
- Strong grasp of BIM/CAD standards, data structuring, and digital workflows.
- Ability to interpret engineering designs and translate them into coordinated, clash-tested 3D models.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills in a digital environment.
- Collaborative mindset, with strong communication skills to support multi-disciplinary coordination.
- Background in infrastructure, earthworks, or construction modelling is required.
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Confident leading workstreams and working as part of a team.
- Desirable some Project Management and Change Management experience
For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK. As a project, we do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
