Opportunity for a Deputy Project Director working with Balfour Beatty on the Sizewell C Project,


The purpose of the role is: To provide strategic operational management, strong leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team.


Main Duties:

 

  • Commercial & Contract
  • Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control
  • Incorporate and balance both operational and commercial constraints into decision making
  • Lead effective reporting routines including escalation as required 
  • Sets and aligns targets and KPI's in line with budget forecast
  • Has ownership of cost meetings and identification of improvement areas and allocation of appropriate actions to team members
  • Reports Earned Value progress and variances  
  • Manages the procurement of subcontractors and advises on commercial aspects / preferred attendances and operational risks to the scheme and mitigation options
  • Manages sub-contractor accounts, minimising impact from change 
  • Produces the risk schedule 
  • Supports Estimating Team


Qualifications/Experience:


Essential

 

  • Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
  • Takes ownership of tasks and communicates outcomes with clarity, direction and purpose, including managing others in this regard. 
  • Strong understanding of marine environment / nuclear environment
  • Able to frequently work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility and lead and manage others in this regard.
  • Excellent team player and team leader, able to work competently and independently without supervision. 
  • Able and willing to make decisions following consideration of options based on best available information. 
  • Strong communication skills with track record of solution orientated approach to issue resolution
  • Excellent role model for development of junior staff and demonstrates required behaviours to align to business, project and team objectives.
  • Champions and develops collaborative behaviours within and external to the team.
  • Ability to manage large teams and monitor progression of individuals 
  • Good understanding of the NEC4 standard forms of contracts 
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organization
  • Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. 
  • Able to undertake work in highly complex environment
  • Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics


Desirable

 

  • Demonstrable experience of innovation, in all fields (Health and Safety, Operational Delivery etc)
  • Experienced in the recruitment and development of talent within the business, including mentoring, stretch and challenge for junior team members and ensuring clearly defined development plans are in place
  • Strong leadership and management skills, including completion of formal qualification (e.g. ILM). 
  • Wide ranging independent judgement evident, proven track record in this regard
