Are you an experienced maritime professional ready to take on a pivotal leadership role in one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects? Do you thrive in complex, safety-critical environments where your decisions truly make a difference? Looking for an opportunity to combine your operational expertise with long-term career development towards full Harbour Master responsibilities?

We’re looking for a Deputy Harbour Master to join NASH Maritime, supporting our client Sizewell C Ltd in managing marine operations for the Sizewell C Harbour Authority. This role will see you play a key part in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient marine activity within a nationally important harbour environment.

Working closely with the Sizewell C Harbour Master, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations, manage marine works applications, maintain navigational safety, and engage with contractors, regulators and stakeholders. You’ll also deputise for the Harbour Master, holding delegated powers in respect of navigation safety and harbour operations.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a marine professional looking to grow into a full Harbour Master role within 2–3 years, while contributing to the success of one of the UK’s largest energy infrastructure projects.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

•    Proven marine operational experience, ideally at Assistant Harbour Master level or equivalent
•    Strong understanding of harbour and port navigation safety management
•    Working knowledge of the Ports & Marine Facilities Safety Code (PMSC)
•    Practical vessel operating experience
•    Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
•    A solution-focused approach with proven marine management capability
•    Diploma for Harbour Masters (Lloyd’s Maritime Academy or similar)
•    Strong IT proficiency, including MS Office and marine systems
•    A commitment to health, safety and environmental best practice

Nice to have:

•    UK Harbour Master Certificate (or willingness to work towards this)
•    Oil Spill Response 4P qualification
•    Safety leadership training (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely)

At NASH Maritime, we empower the marine sector to build a safer, more sustainable future. As specialists in shipping, navigation and maritime risk, we combine deep technical expertise with a commitment to innovation and collaboration.

You’ll be based at Sizewell C Offices at Orwell Logistics Park in Ipswich, working closely with both NASH Maritime and Sizewell C teams — gaining experience across operations, risk, safety, and stakeholder management in a dynamic environment.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
