Deputy Harbour Master
Sizewell C
 

Location: travel between (Orwell Logistics Park) Ipswich and Leiston, Suffolk
Working pattern: 4 to 5 days per week on site
Salary: £75,000 per annum
Benefits:

5% CIP bonus

About the Role


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Harbour Master to support the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the Statutory Harbour Authority at Sizewell C.
 

You will work closely with the Harbour Master to deliver the Marine Safety Management System (MSMS), oversee day‑to‑day marine operations, manage navigational safety and ensure compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code and relevant legislation.This is a hands‑on, on‑site role within a fast‑paced and high‑profile infrastructure project.

 
Key Responsibilities
 

• Support delivery and continuous improvement of the Marine Safety Management System
• Ensure compliance with PMSC, maritime legislation and harbour regulations
• Coordinate daily marine and harbour operations, vessel movements and contractor activities
• Support Marine Works Applications, risk assessments and emergency response planning
• Act as part of the emergency response team for marine incidents and pollution events
• Build strong relationships with regulators, contractors and stakeholders
• Deputise for the Harbour Master when required
 

About You
 

Essential
 

• Experience as a Harbour Master or Deputy Harbour Master
• Strong knowledge of UK maritime legislation and PMSC
• Background in marine operations, port or harbour management
• Excellent communication and decision‑making skills
• Diploma for Harbour Masters (or equivalent)
 

Desirable


• UK Harbour Master Certificate (or willingness to work towards)
• Oil Spill Response 4P
• IOSH Managing Safely or similar
