Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support.  The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for the Project Manager at Sizewell C.


You will be responsible for the direction and leadership of activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of a contract or work package assigned to them.
As the Project Manager, you’ll ensure delivery of all (or part of) the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities for the life cycle of the contract or work package in accordance with the overall Project schedule. This post will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project.
 

Scope of accountability may include the design and delivery of the construction works including bulk earthworks, installation of early and permanent drainage and utilities which are required to enable  follow on scopes to commence.  
 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and manage on-site project activities, ensuring adherence to safety expectations, timelines, quality and budgets.
  • Managing multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure all necessary approvals are in place and works are carried in compliance with the requirements.
  • Liaising with the multiple teams and working within a multi-disciplinary area teams to ensure the strategic needs of the project are met and key milestones are achieved. 
  • Support the Senior Project Manager (SPM), Commercial and Procurement teams in the development and implementation of Sourcing Strategies and the development of tender documents.
  • Provide written and oral reports and attend weekly and monthly reports to the SPM and engage with Site Delivery management for progress presentations. Reports will include (but not be limited to) H&S, progress, cost, and environmental monitoring, production rates, stakeholder relationships etc.
  • Respond to tender queries, meet with suppliers if required and provide input to tender technical reviews.
  • Oversee contractor and subcontractor activities, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Interface with other projects and programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practices.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring smooth project progression.

 
Essential Skills

 

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects, major complex projects (value size approx.  £50- £100 mil plus), ideally such as HS2, HPC, Thames Tideway, CrossRail, Transport for London (TfL).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Significant experience in development of programmes and resource management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills,  (Sizewell C has many internal and external stakeholders and interested parties with whom we must to effectively engage and coordinate using positive dialogue).
  • Intellectual capacity to deal with complex issues and work within our local supply chain vision, creating a one team ethos.
  • You’ll have a civil engineering background with a potential specialism in construction include  bulk earthworks.

 
Desirable

 

  • Degree standard education or recent relevant senior management experience working at a similar level in a related industrial setting.
  • IOSH Construction Safety Qualification/ NEC3 Contract training.
  • Good knowledge in CDM regulations.
  • Project Management qualification (PRINCE2 or APM). Primavera P6.
  • Experience at working in heavily regulated environment
