Delivery Management Manager working with G4S Security on the Sizewell C Project,


Scope of role 


The Delivery Management Manager reports directly to the Security Delivery Manager - Project Access and the Site Operations Road Freight Lead and
is responsible for the direction and leadership of all activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of the programme of work assigned to them. This post has the responsibility to ensure delivery of all the required site support services for the life cycle of the construction project. The size and scope of the support services will be aligned in accordance with the overall Project schedule. This post will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project.


The nature of the role is to provide leadership to ensure the effective delivery of freight and management of the Delivery Management System
(DMS) and its associated requirements to SZC in compliance with Development Consent Order (DCO). While recognising and managing the impacts on the wider Project. The DMM will be responsible for managing the DMS team, Plaza and Freight Management Facility (FMF) Operations whilst ensuring that the
infrastructure is fit for purpose and in a safe condition. Where required the DMM will be responsible for the development, amendment and implementation of work procedures.


Location: Sizewell C - Leiston

Pay: £19.90 per hour circa £41,505.75 Annual
Weekly Hours : 40 hours per week, working normal office hours but will require some flexibility and possible Saturday working.
Remuneration package : Permanent Contract 224 hours (28 days per annum inclusive of bank holidays) G4S National Pension Scheme, Dell, Vodafone and O2 discounts, Perks at Work (national discount scheme), Aviva car, home and travel insurance discount, Health Saturday Fund (health cash plan for you and your family).


Key Responsibilities:

 

Employed by G4S, this position will report to the Security Delivery Manager - Project Access and directly to our client within the Sizewell C Site Operations Delivery Team for daily operations. The role will provide supervision and management to the DMS team and Plaza Operations to enable effective throughput of traffic and people through the Main Entry Point and Freight Centres including:

    • DMS and Security checks
    • Control of incoming and outgoing traffic flows
    • Traffic Management
    • Health and Safety
    • Environmental
  • To manage the DMS operators team to support the Sizewell C traffic management objectives.
  • To manage as one robust operation centre with the involvement of other stakeholders such as Bussing, Security, Postal and Training etc
  • Implement, monitor and control standards at the freight centres initiating collaboration with all stakeholders to include Safety, Environmental and Operating standards,
  • Undertake a Duty Management role in the event of a road incident that requires SZC to enact its emergency procedures and the traffic incident management plan.
  • Disseminate relevant project updates, briefings and traffic information to the DMS team.
  • Maintain accurate information in the system for the DMS evaluation.
  • To achieve all conditions set out by various stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Assessment and control of hauliers, freight operators and drivers at SZC & Freight and Park and Ride Centres
  • Establishing the vehicle safety standards for all freight vehicles at the SZC project and monitoring of these standards.
  • Provide an escalation route to the DMS operators to manage relationships with haulier drivers, DMS users, particularly construction contractors - Handling any issues and queries and collecting feedback from all parties.
  • Provide and supervise driver induction training to HGV delivery drivers.
  • Supervise and support the movement of Abnormal Indivisible Loads to SZC
  • Understanding of the project delivery vehicle timing restrictions, routing, tracking and vehicle compliance, ensuring the parameters are adhered to by the delivery management system (and subsequently contractor deliveries).
  • Develop and maintain lines of communication with contractor Delivery Coordinators and teams to ensure clear communication.
  • Support DMS Operators as required to receive and marshal vehicles within the HGV holding area, banks vehicles into appropriate holding bays and releases within the capping slots. Undertake checks against the DMS including date and time of arrival, vehicle details, load and driver information etc.
  • Resolve any day to day DMS operator administration issues that may arise
  • Report and manage construction contractor compliance with DMS process
  • Proactively manage DMS to prevent breaches to DCO conditions


Skills and Competencies

 

  • A logistics background is required;
  • They will have previous experience of line management and supervision;
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment to satisfy a range of complex project requirements is essential;
  • They will have exceptional people skills and the ability to present ideas;
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required;
  • The Delivery Management Lead will enjoy working in a challenging environment, will be able to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, will be able to remain calm and professional under pressure and will enjoy finding solutions to complex and time critical situations;
  • Experience of successfully engaging management and groups of stakeholders.
  • Able to demonstrate strong management skills including supervision, line management and providing disciplinary feedback to team members and drivers.
  • A good standard of education in Maths, English and IT.
  • Develop relationships and lead on the development of the role and service to support the project and function.
