Data Engineer (Sizewell C)

Location: Based in London, on a hybrid basis, with travel to Suffolk as required.
Contract: Permanent, full-time.
Salary: Competitive dependant on experience, plus benefits
Benefits include:
Annual Leave: 28 days per annum, increasing to 30 days after 5 years of service, plus bank holidays.
Bonus: 5% annual bonus.
Pension Contributions: Defined Contribution Pension Scheme with up to 7.5% employee contribution 15% employer contribution.

This role sits at the heart of our HR function and focuses on creating a company-wide culture that is inclusive, high performing and firmly rooted in nuclear safety. You’ll work closely with the Executive Team, Corporate Strategy, Maturity colleagues and the wider HR community to lead cultural transformation, develop our new employee value proposition, and embed the behaviours that will carry us through decades of delivery.
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Data Engineer to join our team at Sizewell C to help unlock the value of our data. In this role, you will work alongside technical experts within our Data Centre of Excellence to define, build and maintain robust data pipelines for a series of high-value data products for SZC and its supply chain. You will ensure that data flows efficiently across various systems, enabling stakeholders to access timely and accurate insights.
About You
Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of data engineering principles and practices
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large, complex datasets.
In-depth understanding of components required for pipeline development (i.e. Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, Pyspark and Azure Data Factory)
Proficiency in SQL and extensive experience in developing and optimizing notebooks for data processing, analysis and ML.
Strong understanding of Delta Lake features (ACID transactions, schema enforcement, time travel, DML operations and Z-ordering.
Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
