Opportunity for a Cost Controller (Sizewell C) working with VSL on the Sizewell C Project,


Main Duties:


Key Responsibilities:


Cost Monitoring and Control:

 

  • Develop and maintain detailed project cost control systems and processes.
  • Track and monitor the project's expenditure against budget and work with project teams to resolve any cost overruns.
  • Review and approve cost-related invoices and ensure they are in line with contract terms.


Financial Reporting:

 

  • Prepare monthly cost reports for the project team, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze and report on cost deviations, identifying areas for improvement or corrective actions.
  • Produce accurate cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial analyses to support decision-making.


Budget Management:

 

  • Assist in the preparation of the project budget, ensuring it aligns with project objectives and timelines.
  • Perform regular budget updates and track cost variations.
  • Support the Senior Project Cost Manager in ensuring financial transparency and accurate documentation.


Risk and Opportunity Management:

 

  • Identify potential cost risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to mitigate financial risks.
  • Support the team in implementing cost-saving strategies and achieving financial performance targets.


Stakeholder Collaboration:

 

  • Work closely with other departments such as procurement, contracts, and project management to gather cost data and ensure alignment.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to monitor cost performance and ensure adherence to financial terms and agreements.


Data Integrity and Compliance:

 

  • Ensure accurate recording and tracking of cost data in the project's financial systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulations.


Education & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost control, project controls, or project management within large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Experience working on major construction or engineering projects, preferably within the nuclear, power, or energy sector.


Technical Skills:

 

  • Proficiency in cost control software and financial management tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Primavera P6, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of project cost management, budgeting, and financial forecasting techniques.
  • Familiarity with risk management principles and cost analysis methodologies.


Personal Attributes:

 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
