Opportunity for a Construction Manager working with Balfour Beatty on the Sizewell C Project


The purpose of the role is - Onsite Construction Manager


At present the SZC project delivery is split into 5no programmes:
Site enabling and off-site infrastructure, Civils, Mechanical and Electrical, Equipment, and Commissioning


This role will sit within the Civils Alliance of Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty.


The ability to demonstrate "thought leadership," developing capability across teams thereby aligning work with SZC's strategic objectives.
The Construction Manager will be based in the Sizewell C Project Office, and will include on site management, coordination and delivery activities.
 

Will need to have a good grasp of the schedule, milestones, DCO and permit commitments, local supply chain rational and interfaces with SZB and SZA.


The scope will include a list of activities to coordinate all the logistics operations within the civils project including but not limited to the following:

 

  • Act as point of contact for CWA's on-site coordination, forecasting, planning and operational activities. 
  • Take ownership and act as point of contract for the CWA's activities. Own the Management and control of operations and activities of materials and labour coming onto site. 
  • Develop and Expand the projects logistics strategy documents specific to on site but not limited to shall may include Off site and Port locations including Site/ Factory set up and mobilisation plans.
  • Materials forecasting, flow development and reporting - Lead the plan for entry and exit of all material movements inclusive of Delivery Management System
  • Transport, including onward road, rail and shipping - development of the freight profile (including bulks and AILs) - Forecasting vehicle movements and quantites 
  • People forecasting, monitoring and reporting of the data
  • Demand profiling for site temp utilities
  • Support in site set up's - coordination of design, installation and operation
  • Define and manage the end to end coordination of the supply chain, material movements and information flows
  • Ensure robust facility management plans, including office and welfare plans are developed
  • Communications & coordination / change management for physical presence of resources & materials onsite (In conjunction with package managers, engineers, procurement & subcontractors)
  • Brings new insight and provides powerful motivation to support performance and capability development.
  • Be an advocate for Sustainability best practise and innovation in your function, ensure ongoing developments & improvements are made to maximise the benefits to the business & celebrate successes.


And specific tasks to aid the productivity of the logistics tasks within the civil project of:

 

  • Internal movement and planning of workforce
  • Time and attendance
  • Internal transportation of freight
  • Stores and consumable replenishment and stocking capabilities
  • Oversee coordination of project traffic management plans
  • Oversee project vehicle & pedestrian movements


Qualifications/Experience:


Essential

 

  • CSCS Black Managers card 
  • IOSH Managing safety or SMSTS. 


Desirable or equivalent

 

  • CILT(UK) Level 5 Diploma in Operations Management
  • CILT(UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport
