Location: Bristol or London (3 days a week) with visits between these project offices.

Employment type: Permanent full-time/ part-time.
Working pattern: We operate on an office-based contract model, but support hybrid working where possible. This means you’ll need to be based within reasonable travel distance of the office and able to attend in person when business needs require, typically 3 days per week, though this may vary by team or project. Flexibility to be on site when needed is essential.
Salary: £64,000 - £74,000 dependent on experience. As this role is within a government-funded project, we are required to comply with strict UK right-to-work legislation. Unfortunately, this means we are not able to provide visa sponsorship or support with immigration applications. To be considered, applicants must already hold the legal right to live and work in the UK. We are committed to equality of opportunity and warmly welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who meet this requirement.

The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.

Following on from the success of the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project (SZC) in Suffolk is the UK’s next nuclear power new build project. The project has obtained planning approval and has started construction works. It has recently achieved Financial Investment Decision (FID) meaning that all the funding for the full lifespan of the project is now secured and in place guaranteeing the full delivery of this new nuclear power station. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

The Role

We are seeking Configuration Lead to join our project. Are you ready to take on a key role in one of the UK’s most ambitious and transformative infrastructure projects? The Sizewell C Technical Directorate (TD) is seeking talented Configuration Leads to support our fast-paced and innovative delivery programmes.

As a Configuration Lead you’ll be at the heart of our technical delivery, working across teams to embed robust Configuration Management practices. You’ll engage with stakeholders, tackle emerging risks and simplify complex challenges to drive progress and ensure alignment across the project.

Your work will help shape the technical baseline, enhance decision-making, and improve visibility throughout the programme lifecycle. Through continuous improvement, you’ll ensure our delivery meets and exceeds Configuration Management standards.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role in supporting the Configuration Planning Lead, helping to bring the Overarching Configuration Management Plan and supporting process documentation to life.
You’ll be instrumental in delivering and overseeing Configuration Management activities within the NI (Nuclear Island) Delivery Programme of SZC and supporting improvements to standards, procedures, guidance, forms, and tools that drive consistency and quality.

You’ll plan the configuration baseline establishment points throughout the lifecycle and support the business to plan and deliver the content, including facilitating the protection and control of the content at the appropriate points.
You’ll implement the criteria for selecting Configuration Items and take ownership of their identification and documentation across the programme for your given scope of work. By working closely with stakeholders, you’ll help set configuration baselines, manage change effectively, and deliver clear, actionable status reports.
You’ll support the change control process, ensuring all modifications are properly tracked, assessed, implemented, baselines updated and closed out with precision. Your insights will inform strategic decisions through well-crafted, data-driven Configuration Status Reports.
You’ll empower programme participants by delivering training and guidance that builds confidence and clarity around Configuration Management responsibilities.

You’ll plan, execute and report configuration audits for your given scope of work (physical and functional) to validate configuration items and baselines ensuring the configuration items and baselines are fit for purpose.
Working with the Configuration Planning Lead you’ll support configuration reviews (data accuracy) and audits (process effectiveness) and report compliance and raise non-compliance reports for misalignments. You’ll also contribute to Engineering Data and Information Management, ensuring tools and processes are aligned with Configuration Management needs.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
