Concrete Batcher (Sizewell C)

JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for overseeing and supervising the daily operations at one of Eastern Concrete Ltd’s batching plants. The role involves the production of ready-mix concrete, along with ensuring high quality standards. Supervising and co-ordinating all activities at the site, including enforcing safety regulations and maintaining the health and safety of staff, contractors and visitors. Also responsible for ensuring site security, including opening and closing the site.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To effectively operate the batching plant to the required standards as set out in the Company’s procedures, this includes keeping all the equipment clean and completing the required checks.
• Ensure that the correct materials are used to produce the concrete and that the concrete is batched within the correct tolerances for the mix.
• Check all loads prior to them leaving the plant.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any batching or plant related issues, escalating where needed.
• Complete all documentation as required by the Company to ensure compliance and standards are met at all times.
• Responsible for the health and safety at the site, including the delivery of toolbox talks to all site staff as directed.
• Order materials for the following days’ production and control incoming stocks.
• Maintain effective customer relationships both internally and externally.
• Ensure the site, including the plant, buildings and equipment are well maintained and kept clean and tidy at all times.
• Responsible for general site repairs and liaising with the Workshop Manager with regards to plant and equipment repairs and planned maintenance as required.
• Supervise all staff and drivers working at the plant to ensure optimum productivity without compromising health and safety.
• Work closely with drivers, site staff and despatch teams to ensure timely deliveries to customers.
• Help facilitate the compliant management of driver’s breaks and POAs to ensure the most efficient service and delivery.
• Promote positive team culture within the department and with others.
• Be responsible for own Health & Safety within the working environment, ensuring any PPE provided is worn/used appropriately and when required.
• Any other duties as may be reasonably requested within the remit of the role.
