Community Safety Officer (Sizewell C)

Location: Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk (5 days a week onsite, with travel as required)

Contract: Permanent, full-time.
Salary: Competitive- dependent on experience.

The Role: 


We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Community Safety Officer   (CSO) to help foster a safe, secure, and inclusive environment across the Sizewell C construction site and its surrounding community. This is a high-impact role requiring strong leadership, investigative skills, and a collaborative approach to multi-agency engagement.


Reporting to the Security Compliance Manager, the CSO will work closely with Suffolk Constabulary, emergency services, local councils, and internal teams to ensure robust security compliance and effective community engagement. You will lead intelligence-led interventions, support crime prevention strategies, and champion the development of a positive security culture across the site.

 
Key Responsibilities


Build trusted relationships with residents, community groups, and stakeholders to promote safety and inclusion.
Represent SZC at public meetings, forums, and community events to gather feedback and support safety initiatives.
Investigate security incidents and produce detailed intelligence reports.
Analyse incident data to identify trends and inform operational decisions.
Maintain accurate records of workforce involvement in security-related matters.
Triage and categorise security-related observation reports.
Deliver awareness campaigns on anti-social behaviour, personal safety, and cybercrime.
Coordinate risk registers and documentation across security teams.
Champion SZC’s Security Culture programme, promoting zero-harm and continuous improvement.
 

What You’ll Bring


Essential:


Experience in policing, enforcement, or community safety, ideally with multi-agency collaboration.
Proven ability to investigate incidents, gather intelligence, and produce professional reports.
Strong community engagement skills, including public speaking and stakeholder liaison.
Familiarity with crime prevention, anti-social behaviour interventions, and safeguarding protocols.
Experience in intelligence handling and systems interrogation.
Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and independence.


Desirable:


Experience in large infrastructure or construction projects with public interface.
Knowledge of security compliance frameworks and risk management.
Experience delivering safety culture programmes or awareness campaigns.
Understanding of Suffolk’s local authority and emergency service structures.
