Civil engineering – Multi-Skilled Operative

 

Role Overview:

LogicalPS are recruiting on behalf of a tier 1 contactor for a dependable and versatile Civil Engineering Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team on a major Nuclear New Build site in Leiston, Suffolk.

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid CSCS card
  • Valid licenses for operating plant machinery (if applicable).
  • Certificate of Basic First Aid (desirable).
  • Relevant trade or safety qualifications (preferred).

 

Payrates:

  • £19.10 p/h + OT after 39hrs
  • Lodge for non-locals, mileage, radius.
  • Full PAYE including pension and 31 days holiday.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of civil engineering tasks such as excavation, compaction, concrete pouring, drainage installation, and pipe laying as well as ancillary safety related activities. Operate construction machinery and tools safely and efficiently, including excavators, dump trucks, compactors, and hand tools. Assist with setting out and levelling works as directed. Support gang leaders and supervisors in daily tasks and project requirements.

 

Follow all health and safety policies, procedures, and instructions by:

  • Always using personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
  • Reporting any unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards immediately to supervisors.
  • Participating in safety meetings and toolbox talks.

 

Ensure work is performed according to drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Assist in the inspection and checking of work to ensure compliance. Maintain tidiness and organisation of the work area to meet health and safety standards. Assist with the loading, unloading, and movement of materials and supplies. Operate machinery and tools as trained and qualified. Ensure equipment is maintained and reported for repairs when necessary.

 

Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other trades. Follow instructions clearly and efficiently. Communicate any issues, delays, or concerns promptly to supervisors. Complete daily activity logs and safety checklists. Assist in maintaining accurate records of work completed.

 

Experience:

  • Previous work on civil engineering or construction sites & operating construction machinery and tools.
  • Understanding of civil engineering processes, safety protocols and health & safety.
  • Versatility across multiple civil disciplines.
