CSCS Groundworkers (Sizewell C)

Opportunity for a CSCS Groundworkers (Sizewell C) working with Ballycommon on the Sizewell C Project,
Main Duties:
- Site Preparation: Clear sites of vegetation, debris, or old structures to prepare for construction work.
- Excavation & Trenching: Dig and backfill foundations, footings, service trenches, and drainage systems using hand tools and/or plant.
- Drainage Installation: Lay internal and external drainage systems, manholes, inspection chambers, and connect to existing services.
- Concreting & Footings: Pour and level concrete for foundations, pads, and slab bases, including tamping, compacting, and curing.
- External Works: Install kerbs, edgings, slabs, block paving, and other hard landscaping features.
- Service Ducting: Lay and protect ducting for utilities such as electric, water, gas, and telecoms.
- Setting Out: Work from drawings, levels, and site plans to mark out and measure work areas accurately.
- Temporary Works & Formwork: Assist with erection and dismantling of formwork, shuttering, and basic temporary structures.
- Operate Small Plant & Equipment: Safely use machinery such as trench rammers, compactors, and dumpers (where certified).
- Daily Safety & Toolbox Talks: Follow all health and safety procedures, attend daily briefings, and wear required PPE at all times.
- Collaborate with Site Teams: Work closely with site supervisors, machine operators, and other trades to deliver work on time and to specification.
Qualifications & Certifications (Groundworker)
- CSCS Card - Mandatory
- Minimum: Green Labourer Card
- Preferred: Blue Skilled Worker Card (with NVQ Level 2 in Groundworks or Construction Operations)
- CPCS or NPORS (Optional/Role Dependent):
- Forward Tipping Dumper
- Ride-on Roller
- 360 Excavator (Below or Above 10T)
- Slinger/Signaller or Vehicle Marshall
- Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Test - Must be in date
- Operatives test required for valid CSCS card
- NVQ Level 2 in Construction Operations / Groundworks (preferred but not always essential)
- Right to Work in the UK
- Valid Passport or UK Birth Certificate
- Share Code (for non-British citizens): https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work
- Full UK Driving Licence (desirable but not essential)

Experience (Groundworker)
- Proven experience delivering all aspects of groundworks on construction, civils, or infrastructure projects, including residential, commercial, highways, and utilities.
- Skilled in excavation and trenching, including setting out, digging footings, and preparing foundations to accurate levels and drawings.
- Experience installing internal and external drainage systems, manholes, and ducting for water, electric, and communications services.
- Proficient in concrete works, including forming and pouring foundations, slabs, paths, and bases.
- Competent in external finishing, such as laying kerbs, edgings, slabs, and block paving to specification.
- Familiar with working safely around live services, using CAT & Genny/service avoidance techniques.
- Experience supporting or operating plant such as dumpers, rollers, and small excavators (where ticketed), including performing daily plant checks.
- Comfortable reading and interpreting site drawings, levels, and setting out marks with a good understanding of site engineering principles.
- Ability to work under pressure, maintain productivity and safety in fast-paced and live environments including roads, rail, energy, and housing developments.
- Previous work on major sites or frameworks such as Sizewell C, HS2, highways, or local authority developments is advantageous.
