Opportunity for a CPCS Tractor Driver with C1+ license (Sizewell C) working with Ballycommon on the Sizewell C Project,


Main Duties:

 

  • Safe Operation of Agricultural or Construction Tractors: Operate tractors equipped with various implements (trailers, bowsers, grass cutters, etc.) for material transport, haulage, and support functions on site.
  • Material Movement: Transport equipment, tools, aggregate, water, or waste across site safely and efficiently, using trailers and attachments as required.
  • Road Haulage (with C1+ Licence): Drive tractors with trailers on public highways (where permitted), adhering to road safety laws and transport regulations.
  • Towing & Reversing: Safely tow and reverse trailers on- and off-road, ensuring secure coupling and appropriate load distribution.
  • Site Support: Assist with on-site logistics, muck-away, dust suppression (with bowsers), and general site clearance or maintenance duties.
  • Daily Vehicle Checks: Conduct pre-start inspections and routine maintenance on the tractor and attachments, reporting any defects to site management.
  • Fuel & Refill Management: Monitor fuel, water, and fluid levels, and refuel or top up when necessary in line with site procedures.
  • Attachment Handling: Operate and change various attachments including tipping trailers, bowsers, and hydraulic implements safely and efficiently.
  • Compliance with Site Protocols: Follow all health & safety regulations, traffic management plans, and toolbox talks; wear correct PPE at all times.
  • Assist Groundworks or Labouring Operatives: Support general site operations when not operating machinery, including assisting operatives or maintaining haul roads.


Qualifications & Certifications

 

  • CPCS Tractor (A33) Card
  • Must be in date and valid for the class of tractor being operated
  • NPORS Tractor (N601) also acceptable where permitted by the site
  • CSCS Card
  • Often embedded within CPCS or NPORS cards
  • Preferred: Blue Skilled Worker Card (with NVQ evidence)
  • CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Test
  • Must be passed within the last 2 years for CPCS/NPORS card to remain valid
  • Full UK Driving Licence - Category C1+
  • Required for towing or driving on public roads
  • Valid CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) may also be required for some transport duties
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Valid UK Passport or Birth Certificate


Additional Training (Desirable or Site-Dependent):

 

  • Manual Handling
  • Vehicle Marshalling / Banksman Awareness
  • Abrasive Wheel or Fuel Handling (if using bowsers)
  • First Aid at Work
  • Working Near Utilities / CAT & Genny
  • Environmental Awareness or Dust Suppression
  • Proven experience operating agricultural or construction tractors on live construction, civils, infrastructure, or highways projects.
  • Skilled in towing and hauling materials, fuel, water, and equipment across varied terrain and in all weather conditions, both on-site and (where applicable) on public highways.
  • Competent in using a range of tractor attachments including tipping trailers, fuel and water bowsers, mowers, and hydraulic implements.
  • Experienced in supporting logistics and haulage operations, including dust suppression, waste removal, and backfilling support.
  • Familiar with site traffic management systems, working safely in coordination with plant, vehicles, and ground operatives in live environments.
  • Capable of performing daily pre-start checks and routine maintenance in line with site safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Experienced in loading and unloading materials, refuelling plant and bowsers, and maintaining clear haul routes and compound areas.
  • Able to support site teams with labouring and groundworks duties when not operating, including muck-away, signage setup, or fence line prep.
  • Previous work across large-scale civils, highways, nuclear, or infrastructure sites (e.g., Sizewell C, HS2, road improvements, or energy projects).
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental best practices with a track record of maintaining clean and compliant working conditions.
