CPCS 360 Excavator Drivers (Sizewell C)

Opportunity for a CPCS 360 Excavator Drivers (Sizewell C) working with Ballycommon on the Sizewell C Project,
Main Duties:
- Safe Operation of 360 Excavator: Operate tracked or wheeled 360-degree excavators (above or below 10 tonnes) to carry out digging, trenching, grading, lifting, and loading tasks.
- Excavation & Trenching: Excavate foundations, service trenches, drainage runs, and general groundworks to specified depths and profiles, using machine control systems or working to banksman instruction.
- Material Handling: Load lorries, move materials and muck-away, and assist with site logistics using buckets or attachments as required.
- Lifting Operations: Carry out lifting duties using certified lifting accessories in compliance with LOLER regulations (if lifting ops are included on ticket).
- Daily Machine Checks: Perform daily pre-start inspections and basic maintenance (fuel, fluid levels, track condition, grease points), reporting any defects immediately.
- Work Around Live Services: Operate carefully around utilities and existing infrastructure, using CAT & Genny support and following site-specific RAMS.
- Work With Ground Teams: Coordinate movements with groundworkers, slinger/signallers, and supervisors to ensure safety and productivity.
- Attachment Handling: Use a variety of attachments (e.g., breakers, grapples, compaction plates, tilt rotators) safely and efficiently where applicable.
- Grade and Level: Trim surfaces to line and level using machine guidance or laser level/banksman instructions for accurate results.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all site health & safety regulations, toolbox talks, and method statements while operating the excavator.
- General Site Support: Assist with non-machine duties when required, including site tidiness, basic labouring, and supporting other trades.
Qualifications & Certifications (ADT Driver)
- CPCS or NPORS 360 Excavator Ticket
- Must cover above and/or below 10 tonnes depending on machine use
- Lifting Operations endorsement required for roles involving lifting duties
- CSCS Card
- Often integrated with CPCS or NPORS
- If not, a separate CSCS Green/Skilled Worker Card is required for site access
- CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Test
- Must have passed the Operatives or Specialist Plant test within the last 2 years to validate CPCS/NPORS cards
- Full UK Driving Licence (desirable but not always essential)
- Right to Work in the UK
- Valid UK Passport, Birth Certificate, or Share Code for non-UK nationals
Additional Training (preferred or role-dependent):
- Slinger/Signaller (if assisting with or performing lifting ops)
- Manual Handling
- CAT & Genny / Service Avoidance
- First Aid at Work
- Confined Space / Working at Height (if working near shafts or utilities)
- Temporary Works Awareness (for infrastructure roles)
- Proven experience operating tracked and/or wheeled 360 excavators on construction, civils, infrastructure, or utilities sites.
- Skilled in carrying out bulk excavation, trenching, grading, levelling, and footings to specification using machine control, laser levels, or banksman guidance.
- Experience completing precise digging around live services, with full understanding of service avoidance procedures (e.g., CAT & Genny, safe dig zones).
- Confident in operating with a variety of attachments, including buckets (grading/toothed), breakers, grapples, compaction plates, and tilt rotators.
- Experience conducting lifting operations using chains, slings, and certified accessories-where CPCS/NPORS lifting ops is held-under LOLER guidelines.
- Familiar with working in tight and high-risk environments, such as housing developments, highways, utility corridors, and energy sites (e.g., nuclear or renewables).
- Capable of completing daily machine checks, maintaining cleanliness, and logging defects for maintenance teams to address promptly.
- Works efficiently with groundworkers, supervisors, and plant marshals to support overall site progress and productivity.
- Previous experience supporting RC works, drainage installation, ducting, and road prep, particularly on multi-phase construction projects.
- Comfortable working in all conditions and under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a strong safety record.
