Assurance Lead Electrical & Mechanical (Sizewell C)

Location: Sizewell C. Leiston, Suffolk ( 5 days a week onsite).

Contract: Permanent, full-time.
Salary: £70,000 £80,000 per annum - dependant on experience.

About the Project


As the Assurance Lead – Electrical & Mechanical, you will work closely with the Assurance & Utilities Manager and the wider Site Operations team to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of construction and maintenance works. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.


Key Responsibilities:


Support the delivery of construction and maintenance activities for SZC-owned assets and infrastructure.
Deputise for the Assurance & Utilities Manager, including attending key meetings and delivering team briefings.
Coordinate daily construction and maintenance operations to meet project timelines.
Oversee substation and cabling works on SZC’s private networks.
Ensure high standards of safety and compliance with SZC values and procedures.
Provide technical support for design and engineering activities.
Manage teams of employees and contractors during engineering tasks.
Act as a Control Person and Senior Authorised Person for planned and emergency works.
Participate in standby rotas and respond to system faults, including during unsocial hours.


What You’ll Bring


Essential:


Proven experience with 400V to 11kV distribution systems.
HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of HV systems and specialist HV equipment.
Proficiency in reading technical drawings and using Microsoft Office, MS Project, and other relevant software.
Excellent analytical, planning, and organisational skills.
Full UK driving licence.
Ability to work in different fast-paced environments
Ability to identify problems, understand key issues and investigate alternatives.


Desirable:


Familiarity with SZC processes and requirements.
Strong negotiation, influencing, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
Relevant safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
National Grid BESC approval.
Knowledge of HV SCADA systems.
CSCS or CCNSG certification.
Understanding of CDM Regulations
Minimum 11kV Senior Authorised Person as defined by the E&M Safety Rules.
