Apprentice Quality Practitioner Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C


As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.


What will you do?


The Quality Practitioner Apprentice will support the delivery of effective quality practices that help ensure contractual, regulatory, and business requirements are met. This role will give the successful candidate the chance to build knowledge across quality planning, quality assurance, quality control, and continuous improvement while working in a live construction and engineering environment.


Working with experienced colleagues and under the guidance of the central quality team, the apprentice will interact with a wide range of internal teams such as technical, procurement, manufacturing, and operations, as well as external stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and certification bodies where required.


The role will involve supporting activities such as:


- helping to plan quality processes and systems that support consistent delivery
- contributing to audits, inspections, and assurance activities
- gathering and analyzing quality performance information
- helping investigate issues such as non-conformances and supporting root cause analysis
- assistance with quality control plans for products and services
- promoting good quality practice and governance across different teams
- supporting continuous improvement activities to help prevent repeat issues


This apprenticeship provides the opportunity to learn how quality supports safe, efficient, and high-performing delivery across major projects. It is suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with data, collaborating with others, and looking for ways to improve how things are done.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:


- Support Quality Leaders in shaping and implementing quality strategy
- Contribute to the management of customer satisfaction and supplier performance
- Help deploy quality policies, procedures, and governance requirements
- Support audits, inspections, and other assurance activities
- Assist in developing quality control plans for products and services
- Help identify, investigate, and support the resolution of quality issues and non-conformances
- Contribute to quality risk management and mitigation activities
- Support others in understanding and applying quality methods and tools
- Gather, review, and analyse quality data to support performance improvements


Key requirements:


- 96+ UCAS points, with 3 A-levels at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Good communication skills and confidence working with different people and teams
- Strong attention to detail and an organized approach to work
- Interest in quality, construction, engineering, and continuous improvement
- Confidence using digital tools and strong computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and PDF editors
- Flexibility to work away when required
- Eligibility to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available


This role is especially suited to people starting out in their career who want to gain hands-on experience, a recognized Level 4 apprenticeship, and exposure to a professional quality environment.
