Apprentice Engineer (Sizewell C)

Role Purpose
As an Apprentice Civil Engineer at Sizewell C, you will support the delivery of one of the UK's largest infrastructure and clean energy projects while completing a recognised Civil Engineering Apprenticeship. You will gain hands-on experience across construction, site engineering, surveying, quality assurance and project delivery, developing the knowledge and skills required for a successful engineering career
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety and Environment
• Adhere to company, NNB and Sizewell C health, safety and environmental policies at all times.
• Actively support and promote the Behavioural Safety culture and Zero Harm initiative.
• Assist with the planning, construction, and delivery of civil engineering works.
• Support site engineers with setting out, surveying, and dimensional control activities.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
• Assist in the interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Participate in site inspections, audits, and progress reporting.
• Support reactive and routine highway services, drainage and infrastructure activities where applicable.
• Help maintain project records, reports and construction documentation.
• Work collaboratively with contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Attend college or university and complete all apprenticeship requirements and assessments
Site Engineering
• Assist the Site Engineer with setting out construction works using surveying equipment.
• Support dimensional checks to ensure structures are built accurately to design specifications.
• Participate in site inspections and quality assurance activities.
• Help monitor construction operations and report progress against project programmes.
• Assist with concrete pours, earthworks, foundations, drainage systems, and infrastructure installations.
• Learn how to manage technical queries and engineering challenges on site.
Surveying and Data Collection
• Carry out surveys using modern surveying equipment and digital technology.
• Record and interpret engineering measurements.
• Assist in producing site reports and progress updates.
• Support the maintenance of survey control networks and benchmarks.
Construction Delivery Support
• Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors to coordinate work activities.
• Monitor labour, materials, and plant resources.
• Help ensure work is completed to specification, programme, and budget requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and daily briefings.
Design and Technical Support
• Assist with reviewing engineering drawings and specifications.
• Learn to use industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management systems.
• Support the preparation of engineering calculations and technical reports.
• Understand how designs are translated into practical construction solutions.
Skills and Competencies

• Strong interest in engineering and construction.
• Good mathematical and analytical ability.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Good organisational and time management skills.

• A Levels including Mathematics and a Science subject.
• BTEC Engineering or Construction qualification.
• T-Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction
• Relevant Level 3 Engineering qualification.
