Apprentice Civil Engineer (Sizewell C)
Civil Works Alliance
Sizewell C

Do you have a genuine interest in the construction industry? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to kickstart your career as a Civil Engineer degree apprentice on the Civil Works Alliance (CWA). We are proud to be a key partner in the development of Sizewell C, a groundbreaking project that will deliver low-carbon electricity to around 6 million homes and play a crucial role in the UK's energy future.

We are looking for candidates with A Level grades or equivalent (or expected grades) equating to 112 UCAS tariff points or above, including Maths and a Science.

As a Civil Engineer degree apprentice, you will split your time between working on-site and studying (approximately 20% of the time). This balance will enable you to learn and develop the skills necessary to support the coordination and control of the construction process. Your work will involve completing essential safety and quality requirements, providing technical support for project design and implementation, and collaborating with engineering staff on a range of programmes and specialist areas. At the CWA, we value the diverse perspectives and ideas that come from working with colleagues from around the world and various engineering and construction companies. We are committed to providing you with an invaluable technical and management experience, helping you to develop design solutions for complex civil engineering problems.

You will study a broad range of topics including project management, mathematics, geotechnics, structural engineering, and safety and sustainable development. The course has been designed for individuals who want to fast-track their careers and aim for Chartered Engineer status.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge, ensuring that you can:

• Complete projects to the client's specifications and quality standards.
• Minimize negative impacts on the environment and community.
• Manage stakeholder interfaces effectively.
• Translate design information for construction teams to implement efficiently.

As part of this role, you will receive an excellent starting salary, regular salary reviews, paid annual leave, two paid volunteering days, a share incentive scheme, a pension scheme, and various lifestyle benefits.

The recruitment process includes completing an application form, a telephone interview, and a face-to-face assessment centre.
If you are ready to embark on a rewarding career with CWA and contribute to one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, click the following link to apply

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
