About the role


SZC is ultimately owned by two shareholders, EDF and HMG. The shareholders hold their investment in SZC through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. Over the course of the current shareholding arrangements the shareholdings of the two shareholders will change.


Prior to the government investment decision SZC operated as part of EDF in the Nuclear Development business unit and was staffed by EDF colleagues and independent contractors who are now in the process of transferring to the direct employment of SZC. It is setting itself up as an organisation capable of delivering a new nuclear power plant, from investment case and funding, to construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning.


The SZC construction programme has a technical and commercial business case predicated on technical replication of Hinkley Point C. EDF will be an important supplier of nuclear capability for the SZC Programme from its established nuclear business footprint in the UK.


What you'll be doing?

 

  • Maintain focus on Zero Harm
  • Manage the delivery of sustainability activities
  • Manage all survey teams
  • Ensure all survey deliverables are produced to deadlines in accordance with the site programme
  • Work collaboratively with all site teams and stakeholders
  • Ensure the mentoring and training requirements of survey team members are met
  • Establish the standardised formats for all survey deliverables
  • Confirming site specific tolerances are realistic, achievable, and implemented
  • Managing the safe and secure storage and archiving of survey data relating to the project
  • Attend site briefings, site inductions and Toolbox Talks
  • Responsible for the implementations of safe working systems for their team
  • Driving hazard identification including the reporting of good practises and unsafe occurrences
  • Create site safety briefings including the preparation of WPP (Work Package Plan), RA (Risk
  • Assessment), and TBS (Task Briefing Sheets)
  • Consider all environmental impacts generated from and during survey activities
  • Manage survey teams in various engineering survey activities
  • Oversee engineering surveying activities
  • Ensure checks on survey equipment are carried out in accordance with BMS (Business Management System)
  • Carry out survey QA on design deliverables prior to construction release
  • Ensure site teams are provided with information from design deliverables (schedules, digital models, and drawings) in suitable construction formats
  • Manage deliverables of independent surveys checks throughout the construction process
  • Complete QA (Quality Assurance) records as required
  • Manage the issuing of as-built drawings from survey data in survey specific software
  • Ensure hold point checks are carried out in accordance with the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) procedure
  • Member of the CinstCES or RinstCS
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification
  • Manage site records of all survey related tasks
  • Complete and submit weekly timesheet records
  • Ensure the inventory of survey equipment and consumables are accurately maintained
  • Advise on survey equipment procurement, staffing levels and training requirements


Who we're looking for?

 

  • Proven experience in the establishment and maintenance of effective relationships within the project senior management team
  • Ability to working collaboratively in a construction environment
  • Possess effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Extensive knowledge of survey specific software
  • Proficient in IT (Information Technology) applications
  • Experience in settlement monitoring systems, methods, and technologies
  • Experience in geodetic requirements associated with project requirements
  • Experience in establishing GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) networks
  • An elevated level of understanding and experience in design, construction, and surveying within a construction environment
  • Experience in organising and managing site survey teams
  • Relevant degree, diploma, or equivalent industry recognised qualification
  • Hold a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
