Risk Analyst
Civil Works Alliance (CWA)

Permanent

We are recruiting for a Risk Management Specialist to join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), supporting the delivery of Sizewell C - a new 3.2-gigawatt power station that will provide reliable, low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and help secure the UK's energy future for decades to come. This is a unique opportunity to take your risk management skills to a nationally significant project, making a real impact on infrastructure and society.

In this role, you will be at the heart of project delivery, working with a diverse and high-performing team to ensure risk is identified, understood, and effectively managed across the programme. You'll play a key part in keeping the project on track and on target, contributing to its overall success and positive community impact.

Key responsibilities include:

•    Supporting the Section Risk Management Lead in developing and maturing the risk picture for your allocated section.

•    Ensuring risk management data is robust, up-to-date and ready for modelling, supporting the successful delivery of the TOC programme.

•    Taking an active role in the CWA risk management team's monthly reporting cycle and contributing to the development of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) when required.

•    Managing day-to-day risk threats and opportunities, ensuring full compliance with CWA risk management procedures.

•    Scheduling and leading regular risk management activities, including meetings, reviews and workshops.

•    Facilitating the identification, analysis and mitigation of risk, drawing in the right people and subject matter experts for effective decision-making.

•    Keeping risk registers updated and ensuring risks are appropriately treated, reported, and monitored.

•    Preparing regular reports on risk status for project managers, and supporting risk assurance and governance processes.

•    Coordinating risk and value management activities and supporting processes across the Alliance.

•    Developing risk-sharing mechanisms that foster collaboration within CWA and with our client.

You will bring:

•    Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with a proven ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and subject matter experts.

•    A strong track record in project and business risk management facilitation, with the ability to lead and coach both specialists and non-specialists.

•    High proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with a keen attention to detail in analysing data and preparing clear, impactful reports and presentations.

•    Knowledge of risk management, project management and project control techniques and processes.

•    The willingness to learn new risk modelling tools and approaches as the project evolves.

It would be beneficial if you also have:

•    Experience working on major infrastructure or capital projects, with a working knowledge of commercial, technical and engineering disciplines.

•    Hands-on experience with QRA techniques and relevant software (such as PRA, @Risk or Safran Risk), and risk database tools like ARM or Xactium.

•    Professional membership or certification in risk management, or a relevant degree/experience in a risk delivery role.

At CWA, we are passionate about building diverse, inclusive teams that reflect the communities we serve. Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
